Hello First name / friend,
We find ourselves approaching the conclusion of daylight saving, with shorter and noticeably cooler days now upon us, and the grape harvest nearing its completion for another year.
This newsletter contains information regarding numerous upcoming events and opportunities. I especially wanted to give a shout-out to the event I’ve organised specifically for East Coast Primary Producers, scheduled for next Thursday, April 10th, commencing at 4:30 PM at Mayfield (with arrival from 4:00 PM). This will be our final event under the current funding round with the Tas Farm Innovation Hub.
Your attendance would be greatly appreciated, as it offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical knowledge from experts and fellow farmers, as well as to demonstrate your support for our project and acknowledge the successes achieved over the past two years. We're shaping up for a really insightful afternoon, kicking off with a discussion on affordable and accessible forms of stockfeed. We'll have well know vet, Bruce Jackson, and a Rep from Tas Stockfeed sharing their expertise, alongside Tasmanian farmers who have years of hands-on experience with pit-silage – it promises to be a very engaging conversation. Adding another layer of exciting potential for our East Coast producers, Suzie Maier from the Tas Seed Industry Group (TSIG) will also be joining us. This is a fantastic chance to learn about the opportunities in growing pasture seed crops right here in Tasmania. Suzie will be able to shed light on the current market landscape and, importantly, the grazing benefits these crops can also bring to your livestock farming systems. Given that TSIG is also hosting a significant international event in Tasmania later this year, we might even get a sneak peek into what that entails.
Please indicate your intention to attend by following

Looking ahead, several initiatives are planned for May and beyond, including a soils workshop (similar to the upcoming event in Richmond, but located on the East Coast) and a biodiversity workshop with Derwent Catchment Project. Plus, I'm expecting a seasonal update from Farming Forecaster via Phil Graham next week, so keep an eye out for another email from me soon.
You’re welcome to forward this newsletter to anyone who may find the listed events of interest.
We also have an active WhatsApp group, established following the Christmas Party last year. This platform is for members and producers, and you are invited to express your interest in joining by replying to this email.
I look forward to seeing you next week!
Cheers,
Tahnee
