Hi First name / Slothies!
I had a free weekend recently, and — classic me — I wanted to do the absolute most.
I had a list (in my head, of course) filled with ideas, errands, podcast episodes, and projects. And you know what? I did most of it…but not all. Not because I wasn’t motivated or didn’t care, but because my expectations weren’t realistic. Sound familiar?
One thing I did accomplish was catching up on podcasts. I binged a few business ones, but an episode of
The Mel Robbins Podcast really stuck with me. She had a neuroscientist on to talk about what it
actually takes to get the things you want — to move from manifesting to making it real.
The metaphor they used? A vision board. We've all done a vision board once in our lives or atleast know what they are. But here’s the kicker: the images you place on your board only matter if they represent something you really want (they called it "magnetic desire"), and you glue them down as your way of accepting that it’s yours. That glue signifies your commitment and a mental note to yourself that you deserve what you’re committing to.
Honestly, it’s the same energy I bring to getting — and staying — organized.
You can have a million ideas and the deepest desire to make moves, but until you write it down, create a system, and commit to it? It stays a fleeting thought adding to your mental clutter.
Sometimes what blocks us from getting organized isn't everything around us it's the little voices in our head that are convincing us that “it's not for us”, “it's too hard”, “it's not worth it” or “things will never change”. And to be frank none of those thoughts are true.
Anything you mentally, emotionally and intuitively believe you want and deserve is possible. So question those thoughts and tell your brain to hush!
The only things I accomplished this weekend were the ones I physically wrote on my to-do list. Everything else? An unhinged nagging voice in my head and to be completely honest a nice-to-have if I remembered.
As a business owner, every conversation sparks a new idea. Every task turns into ten more. Without systems, it’s overwhelming — fast. That’s exactly why I swear by project management tools like Asana. But here’s the truth: even the best software won’t save you if you don’t commit to using it or to the idea that yes, you, can (and deserve to) have everything organized.
If you're ready to get yourself organized and are considering Asana as your tool of choice, you’ll love my new Asana series breaking it all down. On the
blog I'll be sharing strategy and on
Instagram I'll share step-by-step tips for how to actually use the tool.
Let today's issue of The Vine be your reminder: ideas only become reality when you lock them in and act. Writing it down — whether on paper or into a project management tool — is the first step toward making it real.
Wishing you a productive, grounded week ahead. You’ve got this.
XOXO,
Renee
