Hi First name / friend,
Do you get travel anxiety? I do.
The days leading up to a trip—when excitement should be peaking—usually bring a small wave of dread. I get emotional leaving my kids. I feel ungrounded, uprooted. There’s always too much to do, and though I want to be rested, I’m inevitably up late and exhausted by the time I get out the door. It’s the exact opposite of what I recommend to you.
If I’m honest, most of the time, I don’t even want to go. I still remember heading to the airport years ago for what was, at the time, the most exciting trip of my life—and crying the whole way there.
But I’ve learned something after doing this so often: the resistance is temporary. Once I’m out the door, I’m good. Better than good. I feel like myself again—curious, excited, wide open. It’s energizing in the most grounding way.
So, I’ve just beaten the resistance again. I’m writing this from the sky, joyfully en route to check out a few hotels (
Broadwick Soho and
Beaverbrook Town House to name a couple), meet with brands like
Six Senses, catch up with colleagues and clients, and build new partnerships. It’s a work trip, but it’s also part of the bigger picture of how I work: being on the ground, connecting with people, and noticing the details so I can design better, more thoughtful trips for you. I’ll finish the week by meeting up with my dad (!) and bringing him back with me to The Hague.
Since I haven’t done it in a while, I’m using this Travel Tuesday to walk through our current services—what we offer and how we can support your next trip, whether it’s a weekend escape or a multi-stop adventure.
Wishing you a grounded, good week. As always, reach out anytime to say hi—or for help planning something beautiful.
Hugs,
