“Stores confuse me.”
Happy Thursday First name / friend!

The other weekend I went into an actual physical MALL- and shopped Uniqlo, Zara, and Macy's.

I was overwhelmed by the color stories, mix of merchandise, and the generally disruptive nature of mannequins, sale signs, and salespeople.

It's so easy to feel completely confused by your store visit that you end up buying something familiar… maybe another version of something you already own??!!?

I wanted to lay out a few ways to solve this problem- because I forgot how stress-inducing real stores are!

One way to maximize your shopping is through our Closet Therapy service.  Have your style coach assess what you need and make recommendations- there's nothing like a trained eye to help you see the real gaps and address them with modern pieces that fit your budget.  We have a $50 off promo on right now (promo code: CLOSETJOY) that will end on Sunday 4/20!
go with a list
Having a list focuses your attention on what you need / want most- because you've created it with your personal closet and lifestyle in mind, away from flashy signs and gorgeous photography!

shop by color
If you want to focus in on what you actually will wear, think about browsing your color palette in-store rather than EVERYthing.  Shopping by color is a way to shop a smaller “boutique” within the store that's curated for your natural coloring.

ignore sales
As a price-conscious shopper, this is hard for me.  But if all you are doing is going sale rack to sale rack, you will never progress in your style journey.  Most likely- you have a few gaps in your closet that NEVER get filled because those items don't happen to be on sale.  Think about what you REALLY need- and then shop intentionally for that piece- don't settle for something “cute” from the sale rack.

stick to a vibe
Knowing your style personality is CRITICAL if you are going store shopping.  Stores generally have a “vibe” but it is usually broad- they carry a mix of masculine/feminine, colorful/neutral, elegant/casual.  If you keep your style vibe in mind while shopping, you won't be tempted by the items outside it!

try on!
I'm horrible at this step- but my advice is wear shoes that come off easily so that you can try on easily and quickly.  Shoes are the hardest part of going in and out of the fitting room, don't you agree?

Come out of your shopping shell.

with love
