Spring weather can be wildly unpredictable and incredibly challenging. The image above was taken after returning home from a shoot in Woodinville. About halfway through, the sky unleashed a torrent of rain and my five subjects, assistant, and I had to take cover underneath some nearby trees. If anything can humble you and keep you on your toes, it’s spring in the PNW.
Season highlights included a trip to San Francisco for Catchlight, acquiring a new camera that has invigorated the way I approach personal work, and countless opportunities to explore personal interests though photography. Pitches were greenlit, transatlantic creative calls unfolded, personal projects came to life… I even photographed a congresswoman in my living room! More on that in the next newsletter.
Now, on to some new work! As always, thanks for reading.

New Work for University of Washington Magazine
I partnered with the team at Pentagram for this story on University of Washington alums Demi Raven and Janet Galore. I’ve always loved collections and getting a glimpse into how creative people live, so this project was an absolute treat. Read the story here.
Melinda French Gates for Good Housekeeping UK
I had the honor of photographing Melinda French Gates for a third time back in March for Good Housekeeping UK. Melinda just released her memoir, The Next Day: Transitions, Change, and Moving Forward and spoke to GH about her new chapter in life. Read the story here.
Phil Sparks for Seattle Met
Phil is a Seattle jazz legend who's been holding down Friday nights at Latona Pub in the Green Lake neighborhood of Seattle for over two decades. I am always thrilled to get a call to hang out musicians.
It's been a treat working with Seattle Chamber Music Society in the last few months after being connected to the nonprofit through Kenji López-Alt. I recently shot some fun portraits of SCMS Artistic Director and world-renowned violinist/violist James Ehnes, along with Kenji, to promote their upcoming event, Tasting Notes.
Mark Suzman for Fortune Magazine
In February, I photographed Mark Suzman, CEO of the Gates Foundation, for Fortune's 500 Issue. Suzman is leading the foundation’s efforts to achieve its goals ahead of its planned sunset in 2045.
Josh Miller, a traceur and parkour coach, photographed in Portland, OR in mid-April.
Night blossoms in West Seattle. I visited Japan years ago and was delighted to learn there's a different word for viewing cherry blossoms at night: yozakura 🌸
