Clover by Tateishi Harumi (Japanese, 1906–1994)
1934

What detail surprises you in this painting?

Mary from the coast noticed how the woman is completely relaxed — and possibly asleep—  on the grass.

Lisa from Nebraska noticed the black shoes poking out from under the white dress.

And Bob from Columbus noticed that “the girl lying on her back is pinching a clover with her right hand.”

To take it further, imagine a story around one of those details. For example, is that woman asleep? Why is she tired? What might she dream of?

Thank you to this month's contributors!

Why do we do this exercise?
It sharpens your intuition, which is your brain's ability to focus on spotting exceptions to the system, rather than pattern recognition.

Developing this skill enables you to identify emerging possibilities faster than others do.

Developing intuition can boost innovation, resilience, life purpose, coaching and leadership ability.

First name / Reader,  would you like to contribute to our next Intuition issue?
