Hi Friends,
What a ride it's been.
Putting a book out into the world is a strange phenomenon. A process that begins years ago--a kernel--turning into a fully-fleshed out manuscript. All the pieces and parts coming together with the help of multiple hands and eyes. The expectation is high. The excitement palpable. And then launch day comes and goes and you're like: what just happened?
I've talked to a lot of writer friends about this phenomenon, and I've learned that it's best to reframe the idea that book launch is the beginning. Sheesh. So much pressure. What if pub day is the "completion," as my agent calls it, of one project, and the beginning of another? Doesn't that change the whole perspective and expectation?
The one constant, the one piece that lingers and nurtures and motivates, is YOU. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for the love and support during the hectic days. Thank you for texting me to tell me you loved the book, that you miss the characters, and that you can't wait for the next one.
THIS is really all that matters.
If you've been following me on
Instagram, the last few weeks have been full with events in Florida and the Carolinas. Unfortunately, I returned home with Covid (first-time), and then I passed it off to Bear. Can we talk about the fatigue? It's three weeks now, and I'm finally feeling human. Which means….
I'm back at my desk, editing BOOK 9, working title: I Wish I Never Met You. Think epic love story. That's about all I can say for now.
Catch me at future signings (dates and venues below), and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you enjoyed
We Are Made of Stars, or any of my work, consider sharing a review on
