A Business and Retail Crime Partnership meeting was held recently, attended by Jaycee, Stuart, and other key stakeholders. The meeting focused on strategies to tackle shoplifting, a growing concern for businesses and law enforcement.
During the session, the Chief Superintendent of Nottinghamshire Police shared a significant statistic, revealing that 1.9 billion retail crimes occur annually, making up 25% of all recorded crime. This underscored the need for stronger measures to address retail theft.
Ojay McDonald, representing the Association of Town and City Management (ATCM), delivered a speech outlining the different types of offenders involved in shoplifting. He also discussed a new policing bill that could soon be introduced, potentially influencing how retail crime is managed.
In addition to these discussions, the meeting facilitated extensive networking among attendees, allowing various Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) to connect and share best practices. The event served as a valuable platform for collaboration between businesses and law enforcement, reinforcing a collective approach to tackling retail crime.
