What To Plan Now

NOVEMBER 2025 GETAWAY IDEAS
Image item
Hey First name / friend!

It's that time again, my monthly email nagging you about planning ahead.  Isn't it amazing that I can bug you all the way from the Masaai Mara? #skills

We are having the most amazing trip. We all met in Nairobi, flew to Laikipia to Sosian Lodge, and the fun began.  We have had amazing game drives by truck and horseback, helicopter and hot air balloon rides,  incredible food and so many unique animal viewings.  I don't even know where to start!

We are in the Mara North Conservancy right now in a tented camp.  Last night 4 hippos and 3 giraffes joined us for dinner.   Follow along on Facebook and Instagram for video and pictures.

And while I am here, a gentle nudge: if you’re planning to travel over the festive season (yes, we’re looking at you, Christmas + New Year’s)—and you have nothing planned, time to hop on it.

Here are four November getaways worth considering, and I have added some of my favorite hotels.  Dar Ahlam in Morocco is not to be missed!

P.S. I will be back in the office on June 20. (maybe…I really like it here)

THE EUROPE PICK

With sunny skies, fewer tourists, and lower hotel rates, November is one of the best times to visit Portugal’s coastal capital. The city is vibrant, walkable, and packed with history, amazing food, and postcard-perfect views.

📍 Best Ways to Explore Lisbon:
  • Hop on a vintage tram through the Alfama district and explore the city’s oldest streets.
  • Enjoy live Fado music over dinner at a traditional restaurant.
  • Take a day trip to Sintra or Cascais for castles, cliffs, and coastal charm.
🤝 Perfect For:
  • A girls’ trip
  • Culture-loving couples
  • Foodies, check out the link below
St. Lucia

THE SUN & SAND PICK
Image item
November marks the beginning of the dry season, which makes it a lovely time to escape to one of the prettiest islands in the Caribbean.
Fewer crowds, warm weather, and those famous Piton views? Yes, please.

There are fantastic hotels here too, I loved Ladera.  It does not have a 4th wall, and you do sleep under mosquito netting, so it has a  jungle luxe vibe. Great options if 4 walls are important to you, check out the list in the link below.

📍 Best Ways to Explore St. Lucia:
  • Sail along the coast at sunset with champagne in hand.
  • Soak in the Sulphur Springs and enjoy a volcanic mud bath spa experience.  It can be a bit stinky though…sulpher is that yummy rotten egg smell.
  • Hike Gros Piton for a view you’ll never forget—then recover at your luxe beachfront resort.
🤝 Perfect For:
  • Honeymooners or couples celebrating something big
  • Travelers in need of rest + rejuvenation (we loved our stay on St. Lucia when things just got to be a bit “much” at home, if you get my drift.)
  • Anyone who wants a tropical escape without chaos
Morocco

THE FAR FLUNG PICK

Morocco has it all, markets, medinas, and mountain views—and November is one of the best times to explore Morocco. The weather is ideal for desert glamping, wandering vibrant souks, and enjoying rooftop dinners under the stars.  With new direct flights from the US to Marrakech, it is easer than ever to go.

📍 Best Ways to Explore Morocco:
  • Ride camels across the Sahara and sleep under the stars in a luxury desert camp.
  • Unwind in a centuries-old riad or kasbah.  Check out a personal favorite,  Dar Ahlam, link below.
  • Get lost (in the best way) exploring Marrakech’s medina, filled with textiles, spices, and local art.
🤝 Perfect For:
  • Travelers who want something a little different
  • Design lovers and architecture enthusiasts
  • Honeymooners craving a blend of luxury and adventure
  • Shoppers!

THE CLOSE TO HOME PICK

The first time you see the vibrant red rock formations you will be stunned. Add in clear desert air, and that serene, soul-soothing energy… welcome to Sedona. November brings crisp mornings, perfect hiking weather, and the chance to reset before the year ends.  One of my favorite hotel is L'Auberge de Sedona, check it out below .

📍 Best Ways to Explore Sedona:
  • By jeep or horseback
  • Hike Cathedral Rock or Devil’s Bridge just after sunrise—less heat, an solitude.
  • Shop local galleries and pick up artisan pieces, crystals, or handmade gifts for the holidays.
🤝 Perfect For:
  • Wellness seekers and creatives
  • Outdoorsy couples and besties
  • Anyone looking for a peaceful (but still exciting) easy domestic getaway
