Hola First name / pilgrim πŸ‘‹
πŸ‘£πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ‘£

This week I started training for my next big Camino in September.
I went into Strava to record my run on Monday morning and saw the last one I did was in October 2023 - that's 18 months ago!

It was also 38.5km with 1,382m ascent in 7hours 13 minutes 😯

Blood hell I was fit back then after a couple of years of training hard and doing 100km Ultras, Hiru Hiundiak in the mountains near us in Vitoria-Gasteiz etc.

BUT - then I just stopped.

I needed to, It had been a tough time for me after my divorce, then coming and going to and from Spain and living in my Campervan (Bruno) for nearly a year.

The training and running helped me to get through that time, but when I finally got to Spain to stay all I could do was rest. And I needed it.

Now I'm fast approaching 50 and something changed this week. Time to get back on it.
Monday I just about managed 3km on a very flat path. Phew it was tough, but I did it 😁

Ans this morning I did a speed hit run - only 20 minutes or so and I feel better.

So I am back, ready to get fitter again.

I know how much difference it will make to me enjoying my Camino in September and that spurs me on.

Biodanza is something I have discovered through my fella and this is a wonderful image of 300 of us celebrating in Bilbao on world Biodanza Day. Not all training has to be dull 😜

What do you do for your training?

I am undecided about whether to head off on my next Camino Adventure or not - the Caminos Lebaniego and Vadiniense.

Somtimes I can disappear on a Camino to avoid things, and that's not a good thing for me. I have become aware of some things like that over the last week so I am getting honest with myself about my reasons for this Camino. More work to do there.

I will make a decision over the weekend. There's no rush!

I shared this week about a device I use to help if there are any dogs that try to attack me. I find it really helps with my fear I have following a close call when I was younger. NB: I do only use this if they are going for me which has been a handful of times.

It might be something that can help you too.
