// the mood & vibes this week
— hi, friends :) writing this to you from my place in silver lake. it's a quiet thursday evening. the weather this week has been quite chilly (which, to us LA people, means below 65 degrees). i wouldn't say i thrive in gray weather … i seriously don't know how my pacific northwest homies do it. there's a quote from one of my favorite authors, glennon doyle, where she goes - “we're portland on the INSIDE" because we're crunchy/liberal as all get out but really need that sun. but things have really been okay anyways - maybe even a bit more than okay.
— being back on the eastside is feeling really great. i spent like a solid half of my time here last year despite living in topanga, but it's still a noticeable change. i'm loving being able to go sit in a cool coffee shop, with other cool queer people. i'm loving running the silver lake reservoir every day. i'm loving getting out of my comfort zone by putting myself out there with new folks, both friendship + ~romantically.~ the details of the latter are reserved for a place that is not my real estate newsletter, but just know - YA GIRL IS DOING THE THINGS. and it's scary (oh so scary) but pretty freakin' badass.
— this year so far has been about that kind of badassery (sp?). that kind of - okay wow, everything is changing, and it's my job to arrive at a new even. and i feel like i'm kicking butt at this new even, bt-dubs. i can't believe i just typed bt-dubs. truly a no filter (or semi, semi coffee filter) newsletter we got going on here. but yeah, i just feel like i'm continually stepping into my power. shedding old skin and letting the new layer get its sea legs.
— which i've been seeing in my real estate business, too (nice transition there, super seamless, oh lord just get on with it). but for real! i feel like everyone's vibes were off at the start of this year, and for good reason. i read a quote recently from a famous investor that went something along the lines of - it's incredibly hard to invest when the world always seems to be crashing down. and that's so true. while the current political situation is definitely unprecedented (and absolutely f*cking insane) there's always going to be something. another cool quote i've been telling my buyers, from warren buffet - be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful. as in, when people are freaked out and markets are down, there's huge opportunities if you have a long-game plan. and the long-game plan i've always advised my clients is - buy the best property you can, in the best area you can, and hold that MF into the sunset. of course, there are times when a trade-up is appropriate - the better the asset you're in, the stronger appreciation you'll experience. as in, the bigger snowball you own, the faster + larger it will become as we roll down this hill i like to call time. i love that we can cross the full gamut of content in here, from compound interest to romantic liasons, lmaoooo.
— the thoughts above^ are where my own head is at personally with buying. some of you know i've been in the market to buy my first property in LA for over a year. my game plan is to buy a multifamily property & live in one of the units. as in, something not super sexy but financially sound, and from there buying+saving all the cabins in all the woods.
— in terms of what's coming up … continually on the hunt with my slew of buyers. prepping houses with the team to launch. i have an INSANE listing dropping mid-may. like, quite possibly the coolest house i've ever sold. you're not ready.
— if you're looking to buy a wood house elsewhere in CA + the US, there's a good chance i can refer you to an agent in your city. referrals are a great way to support me. whenever i send a client to one of my cool out-of-area agent friends, i actually receive a portion of that commission! and like most things in life, a recommendation from a friend is the way to go. if that's you, respond to this email and i'd be happy to connect you.
— as always, with the houses i feature below, if you're interested in more details, respond to this email.
— talk to you soon, and sending love.
xx,
sam
