Hi First name / friend,

It’s been a busy week on my end! I’m heading back home to England tomorrow—first to spend Easter weekend with my family, then off to London for all things Adobe MAX.

I’ve been lucky enough to get an early look at the brand-new features and tools launching on Thursday, April 24th—and yes, I’ve already created some videos to walk you through everything. I can’t wait for you to see what’s coming.

As I mentioned last week, I’ll also be live streaming from London on Adobe’s YouTube channel, diving into all the latest Photoshop updates. The stream is live at 2pm UK time and will run for about 30 minutes. I’d love for you to tune in and say hi in the comments! If you can’t make it live, no worries, I’ll share the full recording next week so you won’t miss a thing.

Alright, enough from me, let’s dive in!

Article OF THE WEEK
Illustrators Fightback Against AI Dolls

Illustrators are pushing back against the rise of AI-generated art with a new trend called #StarterPackNoAI. In response to the growing popularity of AI-created "starter pack" images, artists are creating their own hand-drawn versions to showcase the value of human creativity. This movement highlights concerns about the devaluation of artistic labour and the ethical implications of using AI to replicate human-made art.

By sharing their own interpretations, these artists aim to emphasise the importance of originality and the human touch in art. The #StarterPackNoAI trend serves as a reminder that while AI can mimic styles, it lacks the personal experiences and emotions that artists bring to their work.

DESIGN OF THE WEEK
Branding the Future with Fifth Row

Ashfall Studio teamed up with Fifth Row, an AI-focused innovation platform from U+ Digital Ventures to create a fresh, digital-first brand identity. The goal was to build a bold and modern look that shows off Fifth Row’s mission to bring AI-powered innovation to big businesses. One of the coolest parts of the project is the animated patterns they designed, which are generated using code and inspired by the ever-changing nature of AI.

At the heart of the visual style is a 5x5 grid, yep, a literal nod to the name “Fifth Row.” This flexible layout works across everything from websites to visuals and helps break up content in a clean, engaging way. The overall vibe is confident but not too serious, with a fun use of colour and motion that keeps things feeling modern and alive.
A slick, future-facing brand that feels right at home in the world of tech and innovation.

ASSET OF THE WEEK
Free Clean Photography Portfolio Template

If you're looking for a simple way to showcase your photography, this InDesign template is a gem. With clean layouts, generous white space (my favourite), and minimal distractions, it’s designed to let your images take centre stage. Whether you’re creating a portfolio, a lookbook, or a client presentation, the structure gives your photos room to breathe, perfect for making a strong visual impact.

The template is easy to customise and comes thoughtfully designed with a modern, editorial feel. Note, the fonts don't come with the template, so you'll have to add them in yourself.

What sets Landing Love apart is its focus on motion as a design language. Whether you're into minimal transitions, bold kinetic typography, or full-screen video intros, the site offers a wide range of styles to explore. It’s especially useful for designers working on interactive projects or those seeking fresh ideas for web animations.

Video OF THE WEEK
When Designers Give Back

Lovely subscriber Brit sent across this fun and heartwarming YouTube video this week that’s worth a watch. A designer who’s worked with giants like Apple, Nike, and Google decided to hit pause on the high-profile gigs and channel his skills into something way more personal, rebranding a small local sandwich shop. Yep, completely free, just for the love of design (and probably sandwiches).

It’s such a refreshing reminder of how fulfilling it can be to use your creativity to make a difference in your own community. Big brands are cool and all, but there’s something extra special about helping a humble spot feel like the best version of itself. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in need of a little feel-good design inspo this week.

P.S. I love when you guys send me in cool content you come across, like this video, so feel free to email me if you find something you think other designers might enjoy.
