Last week, I received a surprising email from Kasey, a devoted dog-mom who lives near Olympia, Washington.  

 

The message described her sweet 9-year-old Akita, Rainier, who had osteosarcoma that had spread to his lungs. And last July, the vets gave him only few months to live. 

 

But with the help of EGFR/HER2 cancer vaccine, something extraordinary happened—his cancer vanished, leaving his veterinary team stunned. 

 

Metastatic cancer is usually seen as a death sentence. But Rainier’s story—and those of other dogs in the immunotherapy clinical trial (which is open to canine patients at 11 clinics including a location in Seattle) —offers a new kind of hope. And Rainier is not the only dog whose metastasis disappeared.

 

Join us for a special Live Zoom Conversation this Friday, Apr 25, 11am PT with Rainier's mom and parents of other pups whose cancer disappeared after the diagnosis of metastatic osteosarcoma.

 

They'll be sharing what the journey was like as their pups became part of the EGFR/HER2 vaccine immunotherapy trial.

 

This conversation session is open to the Canine Cancer Alliance community, with time for Q&A at the end.  Prof Mark Mamula, who is leading the clinical trial will also join us.

 

We will share the recording and the transcript with everyone who signs up. I can't wait to have them share their stories with you!  Please share with anyone you know who might be interested.

Registration opens at 9 am, 5K Walk/Run starts at 10 am. Flowers, fun contests, information booths and prizes.  T-shirt can be picked up at the event or earlier on Sunday Apr 27 2-4 pm at MudBay Overlake, Bellevue.

 

Walk with fellow dog lovers in Vancouver, BC! This local Pod is gathering at Laughing Men Sculpture in Morton Park for a Walk. Starts time is 9am. Canadians are awesome!

 

Meet in front of Lincoln Memorial at 9am and join other walkers.

This Pod is being organized by students at Liberty High School in May, after their AP exam :-) !
