A few weeks ago I returned from a trip to Maui where I swam with turtles to the tune of whale songs all day + distracted my dad from work in the evening, a welcomed reprieve. I felt my mother everywhere on Maui, the strongest since her passing. I grew up joining her and my dad on this annual trip to Maui, where he worked away much like the bees in their hive, and my mom and I played. Dorothy's adventurous hand was omnipresent, guiding my every decision to such a precise execution… everything flowing effortlessly. Like wind, like water.
The island offered me so many gifts of presence, alignment and clarity ~ qualities that reinforced to me the absolute necessity of the soul to make traction on long delayed projects. Creations that have been begging for my attention. Shortly after landing home I deleted my IG. I am not sure what I’ll be doing with my instagram after May. It’s nostalgic, sure. Mostly a great way to stay in concert with others I cherish and…. it also remains a drain of my energy: Too many conversations to tend to, opinions to sort through and too fast snippets of what everyone’s up to, for me to harness my power of perception, of presence. I guess we’ll see. I trust these projects will continue to guide me deeper and deeper into knowing the me I am Right Now and the path of what is for me will continue to be irresistible.
art for touching
wearable silks
First order of business: The process wearable silks creation is officially underway. I am working with a brand in the UK to create these bespoke cloaks, and will be receiving a book of silks in the coming weeks to touch my way to picking *the dreamiest* choice silk to hold this project.
When I imagine myself and my honeys wrapped in one of my wearable silks, I see it as a multi-dimensional piece that can adorn the body in endless forms. A source of comfort, protection and in some cases, invisibility. The tactile + sober embodiment of the talisman you carry around on a psychedelic trip - the Earthen object that supports your journey, no matter the path.
I anticipate orders will open for these very special pieces within a months time. Each silk will be large and versatile, around 30” x 30” so there are limitless ways you can style them to your liking.
Bear in mind, each order of silks will continue to be a limited run of 13, rare and strange, just like the fabric that inspired their creation.
Otherwise, the book continues to unfurl itself to me. A slow unraveling as I begin the process of archiving my many boxes of film and pulling out images to match with text. A diptych of sorts, a phantom thread. Perhaps it is the ADHD side of my brain but I am generally double fisting projects, and this project is no different. As I sort through my film I am creating a gallery of images from the she is water archives, never before seen images that will be available to clients for licensing and stock use, soon.
That’s all for now, thank you all for tuning in to my churnings and happenings.
Be excellent to each other, and as always, Free Palestine.
