All local, all the time. Here's what happened in April @ TLG |
There’s nothing we love more than being in-the-know. The Local Girl team has been all over to share the latest and greatest with our readers. We’ve explored our own backyards and teamed up with other locals to get a better look at our communities. Read on for more about what we’ve been up to in the month of April. PS: We’d love to hear from you — feel free to respond directly to this email to reach Jen + our team! |

The Hoboken Girl x Slice of Culture Collaboration |
^(L-R) Slice of Culture's Adrienne and Neidy with Team HG's Elena and Danielle |
Adrienne Romero and Neidy Gutierrez are born-and-raised Hudson County residents who connected while in college together at St. Peter’s University in Jersey City. They founded Slice of Culture, an online newsletter sharing news and lifestyle information in Hudson County. Adrienne and Neidy hosted TLG’s Creative Lead Danielle Farina and TLG Writer Elena Gergis for a day exploring Guttenberg, Hudson County’s smallest community — and the series will continue as a collab between our brands. |

Hudson County business owners can gather, connect, and support one another in Yoga Renew’s gorgeous Hoboken space. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Wise Animal Rescue, a foster-based animal rescue in New Jersey (we’ll also have a few fosters on-site!). Enjoying the Jersey Shore before the summer rush |

The Jersey Shore Girl team member Jenna G shared her picks for the best local spots to enjoy before the summer rush. We love the summer high season as much as the next person, but there’s something to be said about enjoying one last night out at your favorite restaurant before the crowds arrive. Several of Jenna’s picks host live music regularly so, we’ll be enjoying our ‘in-the-know’ status while listening to some local performers. |

Preparing for the Newsletter Conference |
If you're reading this, chances are good you believe in the power of the newsletter. So does The Local Girl team, and on May 2nd, TLG Founder Jen Tripucka will be on a hyperlocal news panel at The Newsletter Conference. It's a full day of learning about all things newsletters. (this isn't sponsored btw, they just gave us a discount code to share) |

Bergen County History + a ‘Did You Know?’ |
^ Abraham A. Haring House in Rockleigh |
The Bergen County Girl writer Olivia Fisher took a look at an eternally hot topic, real estate, through a historic lens. Bergen County’s role in the history books is also one for the real estate records: there are 13 homes in Bergen County older than America. These structures are still in use today as homes, and some have new identities as such as a library and a museum. |

Montclair: Getting Ready for Porchfest |
The first-ever Montclair Porchfest will take place on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, and our Montclair team recently covered the event. This community-wide event will see dozens of musical acts performing on, well, porches! Every house in every ward in town has the opportunity to volunteer their porch to host a band. There are no exclusions. “This will be the largest festival to come to town,” the organizers told MG. Dozens of cities throughout the US and Canada host their own versions of PorchFest, and we're so excited to see what Montclair brings to its inaugural event. Read more here. |

^ Our TLG In-TERN logging some desk time |
In honor of Hoboken's official bird, the Common Tern, the Hoboken Business Association has partnered with local advocacy group Our Tern to host a ‘Tern Parade’ throughout town. Over three dozen local businesses have Tern decoys that have been specially decorated and are on display from April 1st to June 1st. The Tern Parade will culminate in a one-of-a-kind display at the Hoboken Public Library. While The Hoboken Girl doesn't have a traditional brick-and-mortar location currently, we were so honored to be invited to have our own Tern! Our in-TERN was decorated by local high school student Eliza and comes with her own mini versions of the quintessential TLG accessories such as a laptop, a raincoat, a Metro pass, and a water bottle. |

The Local Girl Wedding Directory is our little black book to all things weddings in the local space. From entertainment to florals, the perfect outfit to grooming services, we’ve got you covered. All vendors are local faves — and it's a paid directory that you'll be listed on (building SEO, links, and brand awareness) that we share on all of our newsletter platforms for each sister brand. 2025 is the five-year anniversary of the Wedding Directory, and we'll be showcasing vendors throughout the month of May. Know of a vendor who should be included? Contact TLG Director of Marketing Joelle Hernandez at joelle@thelocalgirl.com. |
