Harbour - Lydia Ko Junior Open
Lydia’s achievements are well recognized, but what stands out most to us is her dedication and contributions to North Golf, including her sponsorship of the Harbour - Junior Open and junior golf in general.  Below is a photo of our Age Group Gross winners from the 2025 event held in January this year.
Additionally, many may not be aware that Lydia offers mentoring videos for the Harbour women’s team representatives, who were the 2024 NZ Women's Interprovincial winners featured at the top of this newsletter!

2025 Pennants
The Harbour and Northland pennants season is gradually drawing to a close, with some division final results in and a few finals still to be played. Unfortunately, we’ve faced a number of postponements mainly caused by the recent inclement weather.
Up-to-date results can be found on our website under the ‘Pennants Standings’ tab at:

Volunteer Awards

Sport Northland
Do you know an amazing person who volunteers in the sport, active recreation or play sector? Nominate them to be recognised in the 2024-2025 Volunteer Awards!

The award recognises no one ‘winner’. It is more of an opportunity for people/groups/organisations to identify those bright stars who volunteer and contribute so much to the play, active recreation and sport space. Whether they are a coach, committee member, caretaker, deliverer, official etc. if they are one of those people who is a bright star in your club/organisation/group that deserves recognition then this opportunity is a great way to say ‘thanks’ and let everyone know about all the great work they do.

How will they be recognised?
Sport Northland will recognise award recipients online in a specific online event. Each recipient will have their picture and contribution profiled to recognise their award. In some cases, there may be a recognition event where the recipient may be presented with their award.

The recognition awards will be announced on Wednesday, 18 June, at 8 pm on the Sport Northland Facebook page. More details to come.

The person must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for recognition:
The person must live in Northland
They must be a volunteer
The person should have made a contribution that has been significant/impactful over their time volunteering in their role/roles
There is no minimum time for volunteering, as long as their contribution has been impactful.
Cannot have received the award previously - see list of previous recipients.
Nominations close 25 May 2025.

IN THE TRAPS

know your rules
Rule 5: Rule 5.2: 5.2b/3 – Application of Penalty for Practising on Course Before Round in Stroke Play Rule
5.2b explains when a player is not allowed to practise on the course before a round in stroke play. The penalty statement in Rule 5.2b is not limited to making a stroke as the term “practising on the course” also includes testing the surface of the putting green by rolling a ball or rubbing the surface. If a player rubs the surface of a single green, they have only breached Rule 5.2 once no matter how many times they rub the surface of the same green. (Added December 2022)

TRICKY
SHOT
There is only one rule for 'tricky shot' and that is NO INTERNET HELP! You can phone a friend, ask the audience or just sip on yer pint … no 50:50's on this one.
