New Month, New Start? Not always!
If you were doing well in April, keep going.
|If you had good habits going for you, keep tracking.
Duplicate them in a new habit tracker as soon as possible, and don’t stop.
If you were NOT doing well in April, however, you can use a couple of hours to plan your new monthly habits and start the new month ASAP.
Fresh starts only work if you were not doing well prior. Use them to your advantage that way!
If all is good, a new month means same old same old, because that old thing is working for you.
This season, I designed my habit trackers to start the day after Palm Sunday, so that’s April 14th (no new shiny date, it is what works for me, see the image below). I wrote the dates up to the upcoming natural stop, June 5th, which is Adha Eid, and the end of the school year, because there is a major shift expected in routines, especially since kids’ bedtime would affect mine.
So May 1st came around, exactly like April 30th, with no changes in morning or evening routines. They are already working; they are already in trackers.
In other news, the highlight of my week was this 3-day weekend; I mean, WOW. I totally see why some countries are going for 4-day workweeks. I will make it a point to take early Thursday leaves once a month to have longer weekends.
What worked this weekend was waking up at 4:40 AM in those three days! It made all the difference, and I felt so blessed by the abundance of hours given.
I am also proud to report that I did a digital sabbath challenge, which means abstaining from the phone for a whole 24-hour period; I even extended it for 90 more minutes (napping, mind you).
It was the right weekend to do the challenge; next weekend, I will be collecting positive testimonials from a new group of employees attending the upcoming (Build Your Habits, Change Your Life) training and preparing my monthly goals group call. Then, I will attend and speak at
Dr. Rula Qatami’s Moms Masterclass event, which I am so excited about. I hope to see some of you there!
