One of the questions I hear most often is:
“What are the steps to developing intuition and psychic abilities?”
Well, you could picture a ladder and start climbing to the stars. But truthfully, it’s not about going up—it’s about going in. Deeper, not higher. And that’s not always easy to explain, especially to someone just beginning.
Over the years—since 1975, in fact—I’ve had the joy of teaching so many beautiful, unique souls. And here’s what I’ve learned: the path of intuition is never identical for any two people. If you put two people in a room and offer the same starting point, their experiences will blossom in completely different directions. That’s not a flaw—it’s the whole point.
Forget “Step One, Step Two, Step Three.” That may work for assembling a bookshelf, but not for awakening your inner senses.
There’s only one real step:
Step into yourself—completely.
As if this is the most incredible, heart-opening, awe-filled adventure you’ve ever taken.
When I wrote Soul Detective, it wasn’t just cathartic—it was a way to weave together the winding roads I traveled while developing my intuition and teaching others to find theirs. The stories, the discoveries, the moments of grace and surprise… all became part of a living conversation I continue to have with the world.
In each class I’ve taught, I never relied on a rigid formula. Instead, I would tune into the energy of the group—gather a sense of what was needed—not from logic, but from presence. And from there, we’d begin. Because real guidance arises from listening, not controlling. What works must honor each person's rhythm, readiness, and way of perceiving.
I always encourage students: Use what I offer, but infuse it with your own essence. Trust your way. Let your soul guide you. Sometimes that might lead you down branches I’ve never explored—and I celebrate that. It means you're listening to you.
I’ve always loved writing, so I filled notebooks—those old black-and-white composition books—with thoughts, exercises, and impressions. When classes weren’t recorded, I’d capture the insights in writing. Later, I turned many of those into online courses. Now, with Zoom and transcripts, I can keep shaping what I’ve learned and witnessed into something others can use in their own beautiful way.
Here’s a little story:
A woman named Nancy (yes, also Nancy!) once rushed into my class, apologizing because her horse was having issues. Something came through me, unplanned. I grabbed paper, drew a line for the horse’s spine, and marked a spot. “Maybe here,” I said. She called the barn. They touched that spot. The horse jerked in reaction. “OK,” she said, “What now?”
I didn’t know. But I listened. I told her to gently apply massage oil near that area, just offering touch without pressure, inviting relaxation. Thirty minutes later, we learned the horse had calmed completely. That experience surprised me as much as anyone. But it reminded me:
Trust what comes. Show up with love. Stay open.
Intuition isn’t about being certain—it’s about being present. And yes, sometimes it’s about crossing your fingers and listening with your whole being.
Now for a few fun questions I’ve been asked:
🌳 Do you talk to trees?
🌸 Do you talk to flowers?
💫 Do you talk to those who’ve crossed over?
Yes. Yes. And yes.
Because it’s all the same: it’s about connecting deeply—with life, with spirit, with the invisible-but-felt soul that runs through all things. We belong to a wireless community of energy and love, and that connection doesn’t care what language we speak or what form we take. It simply asks that we listen with our hearts.
So if you’re wondering how to begin—start here:
🌱 Be curious.
🌱 Be gentle with yourself.
🌱 Talk to the wind. Smile at the sky.
🌱 Listen to the silence between the thoughts.
🌱 And know that everything is listening back.
You don’t need a step-by-step manual.
You need wonder.
You need willingness.
And most of all, you need to trust that the doorway to intuition is already within you—waiting to be opened.
💫 I’d love to hear from you: What was the moment you first knew there was more to life than what meets the eye? And… have you ever talked to a tree? 🌳
