Hey First name / there, We've officially entered the world of “Let's ask ChatGPT” instead of “Let's Google it”. Safety regulations aside (sorry to be a mood killer), ChatGPT can do some incredible things. Today, I wanted to show you how you can use it to analyze the marketing data of your coworking space (or any other information), since this is a feature that not so many people are aware of (except for Thilo, who showed it to me). |
Setup 🤓 I use the paid GPT-4o model (and all further screenshots will be from it). Yesterday I tested the free ChatGPT version, and it seems like most core features are working similar to the paid one (although cosmetically and quantitatively limited). Start by uploading your dataset by dragging or clicking on the “+” icon at the bottom left of the chat window: Excel (.xls / .xlsx); Comma-separated values (.csv); PDF (.pdf), JSON as well as directly from Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. Then write your prompt. Be specific and give as much detailed information as possible. ❌ Bad prompt: "Analyze this for me" ✅ Better prompt: “Could you please extract the information from this marketing review file and give me a pie chart showing the new leads we got in April from different sources” |

PRO Tip ⭐️ As this recent paper confirmed, you can boost the performance of ChatGPT by incorporating sentiments of urgency or importance, such as "It's crucial that I get this right, else I might get fired" compared to neutral prompts like "Please do this". |
How Can ChatGPT Analyze Data When it comes to data visualisation, ChatGPT can generate bar charts, column charts, line graphs, area charts, stacked area charts, pie charts, histograms, box plots, scatter plots, bubble charts, heatmaps, calendar plots, Gantt charts, and treemaps. Try repeating that one three times, fast! ChatGPT can also clean up messy data, summarize tables, find trends or outliers, draft short reports, rewrite survey questions, and even help segment members based on behavior. You can also play with the “Deep research” function if you need proper citations and conclusions to support your data. |
PRO Tip ⭐️ Don't delete your files after you upload them. ChatGPT only keeps the file in the current session, and it will be deleted after it ends. If you want to go back to your work, you might have to reupload the file. |
Edit Your Charts 📊 In the paid version of ChatGPT you can easily edit the chart you have created, expand them, and enter interactive view. These features are not available in the free version, but they are also not as crucial in my experience. Quick easter egg 🥚, that's actually real data from my marathon preparation some months ago. |

Downloading Your Work Paid version: If you need to download the chart you have created, you can simply click on the “Download chart” button in the taskbar. The table you download will even have a transparent background. Free version: Simply take a screenshot of your browser :) It's not the same, but it should get the job done. |
