Welcome to the wild and rugged beauty of Penticton, British Columbia – the official host of Expedition Canada, part of the prestigious Adventure Racing World Series.
 
Nestled between two lakes and surrounded by mountains, Penticton offers the perfect terrain for a world-class expedition race. From dense forests and alpine ridges to glacial-fed rivers and desert-like valleys, this race will test your navigation, endurance, and team dynamics across some of the most diverse and stunning terrain in Canada.
 
Organized by the experienced team at Hoodoo Adventures, Expedition Canada is a multi-day, non-stop adventure race that combines grit, wilderness, and strategic navigation into an unforgettable journey.

Canada welcomes the world, with many of the world's top AR teams coming to the mountains of British Columbia for Expedition Canada and the 2025 Adventure Racing World Championship.  .
Canada is hosting and Canada is representing with many top Canadian teams such as Disco Inferno, qualifier winners from Expedition Oregon and Team Canada Adventure, current ARWS North America Champions. That team includes two racers who participated in Newfoundland's 2004 ARWC, the last time the championships were hosted in Canada!  
 
Race registration is now closed, but if you know a team or racer that is still sorting out teammates or logistics but would like to participate, please have them reach out to us (events@hoodooadventures.ca).

The host race region is accessible via most Canadian airports with Vancouver International Airport (YVR) being the closest. Penticton is serviced by two airports:
 
  • Penticton Airport (YYF) – closest, with direct flights from Vancouver.
  • Kelowna International Airport (YLW) – major hub, ~1 hour away.

Full mandatory gear list is published now on the website.  Some updates may be made leading up to the event but we will give you plenty of notice before you travel.  Standard expedition race equipment is listed here:
  • Trekking and paddling gear (supplied by teams)
  • Mountain bikes & bike boxes (supplied by teams)
  • Packrafts (supplied by teams) - Rentals available here
  • Ropes gear & proficiency - harness, rappel, etc. (supplied by teams)
  • Stackable gear bins (provided by race)
  • Tracking devices - InReach or SPOT (provided by race)
  • Maps (provided by race)

The course includes technical rope sections such as rappelling and fixed lines, supervised by certified staff. Teams must demonstrate proficiency in rope safety systems.
Packraft sections may require carrying gear overland. Teams must provide their own packrafts and paddling equipment.

Registration Is Now Closed
If you have reached out to us to hold a spot, or you have not entered all your teammates information on the registration platform ALL registration details must be complete by:
 July 1, 2025. 
Travel Itinerary Form Due: July 15, 2025
Team Photo & Bio Form Due: July 1, 2025

First Aid: At least two team members must have valid First Aid certification.
Insurance: All team members must have ambulance and medical insurance, including medical transportation coverage, air ambulance and SAR insurance. Reach out for insurance provider options. 
Waivers: All participants must sign the Acknowledgment Waiver and Release form at registration.  A mandatory safety briefing attendance is required for all racers.
 
Media: Please watch for an email regarding media traveling with teams.  We will need to register all media and will have special information to share.

Penticton is an ideal base for families and supporters. With its wineries, beaches, hiking trails, and friendly community, there’s plenty to enjoy while racers are on course.
Maps and viewing points will be shared closer to the race to allow friends and family to follow along and cheer at key locations.
