We spent Sunday afternoon eating ice cream, basking in the sunshine, and chatting with lovely people. For business.
 
Let’s back up a few steps, shall we? Like we’ve said before, transactions shouldn’t be one-and-done deals. Referrals and repeat business — that’s what we’re after. It pays to keep past clients in your orbit.
 
There are a multitude of ways to do that: social media, mailers, events, calling or texting… Ideally, all of those pieces work together to keep people engaged, even after the contract is up. But honestly, events are our favorite.
 
So on Sunday, we teamed up with a few friends to host an ice cream social, with a side of free professional photos. Fawkes Alley Coffee provided scoops, Sarah Zimmermann of SZ Photography shot portraits of our guests, and we organized and paid for all of it. Notice how most of the actual work was done by our friends. Events don’t have to be complicated; they just need to be enjoyable for the people who attend.
This is good for a few things:
  • It gives people a reason to engage with us.
  • It gives our agents a great reason to call their sphere, past clients, and anyone else who might enjoy the event.
  • It's a tangible way to express our appreciation for the people in our sphere and the people who have done business with us.
  • It gives people a reason to stay connected with us on social media and email; who knows when we might host another event they want to attend?
  • It allows you to meet some new people in a relaxed setting — tell your clients to bring friends!
  • It can be a good way for us to support other businesses we love.
  • It’s just FUN.
