A place to wash all my harvest buckets, rinse vegetables, and clean tools…what a dream! Even cooler, all the lumber was milled by my husband and my Daddy from fallen trees on the farm.
Coming this Summer…
02
The summer calendar is coming together, and I wanted y'all to be the first to hear a few of the fun things coming this flower season! Pop up stands will certainly continue - the next one is THIS FRIDAY 5/23, 9am-12!
AND the activity I am most excited for this summer is a Buy-One-Give-One Sale. For one week in June and one week in July, if you buy a bouquet, I will match that bouquet with a jar arrangement to be delivered to nearby nursing home residents. What better way to brighten their day than with fresh flowers! I also plan to have some little helpers (my kids & some of their friends) to come help hand the flowers out. Sale dates coming soon!
Photo above: the hands of one of my beautiful Grandmothers, who loves flowers as much as I do.
Seed Starting…or not?
03
Breaking news – I have started almost none of the seeds I had planned to start by now. A full May calendar, and thus empty grow light shelves… So let this be a reminder that if you have struggled to keep up with your life and your plans in May, know that you are not alone. May-cember has done me in! So instead, here is a peaceful picture of cattle grazing. They were not bothered by the busy-ness of May… Let's channel that energy!
I love earth worms. They are the workhorses of the garden, yet often go unseen. Healthy plants and beautiful flowers cannot grow without healthy soil, and earth worms make healthy soil. As I watched this little guy wriggling around the basil seedlings I was planting, I started to think about the impact this little guy has in creation. He is found behind the scenes, without any fanfare, doing unglamorous tasks, plugging away at his job.
Oh how similar this can be to our role in God's Kingdom. 1 Corinthians 12 talks about the body of Christ, and how it is made up of many different parts, with no part less important than another. Sometimes our role in God's kingdom may be found behind the scenes, without any fanfare, doing unglamorous tasks, just plugging away at our job, our housekeeping, our child-rearing, or our gardening. Yet these simple moments are important. A needed part of the body of Christ. A chance to create healthy soil where God's beauty can grow.
14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.
1 Corinthians 12:14-20
We have nearly survived May, one of the busiest months of the year. Hopefully the teachers have been thanked (never enough), the graduates have been celebrated, the Mother's have been shown love, and we are ready to step into summer with renewed energy. If my flowers have been a part of any of those moments for you, I not only thank you for supporting me, but I hope you have been blessed by the gift of sharing beauty with someone else through flowers. As always, I would love to hear from you, please reach out anytime. I am so grateful for your support and thankful we can enjoy a life made more beautiful by flowers.
