Happy Friday Friends!
Carter and I are officially half-way through our marathon of travels: We ahave a stretch of seven weeks where we are out of town, so I am trying to balance all the bustle with quiet weeknights. Think something green for dinner, herbal tea, and books in bed by 9pm. Now, how well these aspirations stick when the sun is out until 8:30pm and invites for patio drinks, book club, and mahjong nights trickle in? TBD.
On a more serious note, I am sending all my love to two of my dearest friends: Cate and Alex Rock. They lost everything in a house fire earlier this week, including their two beloved cats, Edgar and Franco. They are expecting their first child, and, amidst the heartbreak and tears, continue to be hopeful for the beautiful days that I absolutely know lie ahead. Days of wine, and candles, and fresh flowers in crystal vases, and piles of laundry, and spaghetti sauce splatter, and football games on in the background, and the orchestration of a normal, steady life. And, until that day comes, I know the Rock's entire community will be steadfastly by their side.
