Every Woman a Theologian
—  Is Christ a Frequency? —

Dear friend,

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.
Their end will correspond to their deeds.

- 2 Cor. 11:13-15 -

Each person can have their own interpretation and personal experience of this energy, the article stated. It is essential to remember that spirituality is an individual journey.

I continued reading the article to its end, closed the tab and sighed. So close, yet so far

In an age of spiritual syncretism, people are becoming more and more dissatisfied with purely scientific answers to the longings of the heart. They want to experience awe, connection, and purpose. They want meaning. This leads to an increased spiritual curiosity and an exploration of different spiritual traditions, some of them still rooted in the scientific/humanistic view. Unfortunately it also leads to a “salad bar” approach to Christianity and attempts to combine Christ with the New Age.

I live in an area of the country where New Age/New Thought and Wicca are openly practiced. Our local coffee shop advertises frequency workshops, yoga retreats, and sound healing. To those living in the Bible Belt this may sound foreign but I promise you, it's happening in your city, too.

In the last decade there has been rising interest in the concept of “frequencies”. Frequencies are vibrations. In spiritualism, everything in the universe has a frequency. Positive thoughts or behaviors vibrate at a higher frequency; negative thoughts vibrate at a lower frequency (this is why you'll see signs like “Good Vibes Only” in your favorite houseplant store). If you align your vibrations with higher frequencies, you can manifest better outcomes for your life.

This is not sequestered to the spiritual, either. Frequencies are thought to heal physical ailments (which Surgeon General nominee Casey Means essentially stated in a recent interview), inner wounds, mental illness and more.

This leads us to the “Christ frequency”. If connecting with high vibration can change you, Christ – as the literal God-Man – is the highest vibration to seek. His teachings, character, and energy are helpful because Jesus ‘reached a heightened state of consciousness’ that followers could ALSO reach by connecting to Him.

So say those who adhere to the frequency of Jesus.

Adherents to frequency theology often use biblical terms like “spirit of Love”, “Holy Spirit”, and even the name of Jesus to authenticate their beliefs. But this theology has three major flaws. It is not biblical, it is not historically consistent with the Church's teachings, and it denies Jesus' Jewish roots and testimony about Himself.

  1. Frequency theology denies the exclusive deity of Christ. While some adherents might affirm that Jesus was God, He is usually presented as a person who was not ALWAYS God. He was instead a human who “achieved higher consciousness”, a path available to anyone who follows Him. Essentially Jesus is just the first Christ of many christs. Further, by blending New Age with Christian teaching, adherents to frequency theology teach followers that Jesus is just one of many ways to God/Source/Universe. He is not exclusive in His divinity.
  2. Frequency theology is works-based. To access Christ's frequency, you must meditate, pray, read, do good works, and emulate His character. At no point on this path is the gift of grace evident to the follower. Their ascent to Christlikeness is not given to them at the Cross; it is achieved through endless effort. In the end, they may be externally similar to Christ with love and compassion, but are inwardly dead to God. The work of Christ on the inner heart has remained undone, and the outward work of reaching higher consciousness never ends.
  3. Frequency theology is ultimately self-seeking, not Christ-allegiant. Faith in Christ is not intellectual belief in His existence. Scholar Matthew Bates points out in his book Gospel Allegiance that the word “pistis" (Greek for faith), as used in the New Testament, represented loyalty to a commanding officer. You could not have faith in your commander without allegiance and submission. In the same way, there is no true faith in Christ without submission to His person and His will. Frequency theology is ultimately self-seeking; adherents seek Christ, not for Christ's sake, but for their own. They seek Him in a way that is convenient and affirming, a manner that does not confront their own desires or sins. In the end, this path will not produce true fruit. It will produce people who stand before God and say “Lord, Lord!” while He answers, “I never knew you.” (Matt. 7:21-23)
Many people who take interest in the Christ frequency have been deeply hurt by legalistic Christians and systems. They need patience, compassion AND truth. Don't give the one without the other! Concentrate on what Christ said about Himself using His direct quotes from the gospels. Emphasize the unfairness of misquoting someone's words or changing their meaning; is it loving to change what someone said about themselves to fit our own agenda? (And if your friend has struggles with the authenticity of the Bible, I suggest Timothy Paul Jones and Wesley Huff)

There is hope for finding freedom from this path, but Christians who know Scripture must be prepared to answer the questions of people trapped in this deceitful new-ish approach to Christ. Remember: Many people know Christ is the answer. They just don't know Christ Himself.

Watch for our launch this June when we release the second in our Explore & Engage series with Jeremy Jenkins: Wicca & Neopaganism.

Local to Northern MI?
Some Things You Don't Want to Miss!

Summer in northern Michigan is a dream. I love living in this beautiful destination! Here are a few things I love about this area that are great to try whether you live here or are visiting.
  • The Walloon Block Party with Sweetwater Floral / Iron Goat Coffee / Vilah Bloom and more! Many of you may know Sweetwater Floral has done the flowers for Verity Conference in the past (and they were stunning!) and Vilah Bloom produces my favorite diaper bag (which I'll be breaking out this fall!). Iron Goat is my go-to when we're at homeschool co-op on Mondays. Come join the fun this Saturday, May 24th!
  • Stillwater Massage Pilates Classes: There are several awesome pilates studios here, including Align Pilates. If you like a smaller class, Stillwater is a great choice! Just be sure to book ahead.
  • Downtown Petoskey Farmer's Market: This happens every Friday morning on Howard Street and is one of my favorite ways to find new vendors in the area.
  • Bear Creek Organic Market: This is out of town a little ways but totally worth the drive! Their plant sale, market and food truck are all worth stopping for.
  • Concerts in the Park June, July and August: Wednesday and Friday you'll find concerts in Pennsylvania park, at the heart of downtown. You can simply show up with a lawn chair to join in!
  • My favorite breakfast and lunch: Julienne Tomatoes: This little cafe has my favorite waffles for breakfast and a classic grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch.

Verity Conference Simulcast:
 Announcement Coming SOON!

THIS WEEK we announce the theme of Verity Conference 2025! We are all online this year with a brand-new training for our Verity Local hosts. Expect an announcement of our speaker lineup, topics, and more!

If you're interested in attending the simulcast, hosting a location at home or your church, this is the place to be – click below to join the email list for all the important updates from Hannah, our event coordinator!

Final Note: Please pray for the Lansing area and for MICHN, the organization who hosts INCH conference. After putting together our booth Thursday for the event, a tornado came in late Thursday night and took out all the power to the church and surrounding area. MICHN did their best - acquiring a generator, rearranging the schedule – but to no avail!
I am so grateful I got to deliver one keynote and talk to so many of you before the event had to be cancelled. Thank you for shopping with us IN THE DARK!
