Hi

Side quest real talk. What about when you want to be foraging for glimmers but your attention keeps getting pulled to the triggers and the difficult stuff?

First up and huddle in. You’re not doing it wrong, you aren’t broken and you’re not a doom and gloom merchant.

Sometimes the truth is life throws us curveballs. Sometimes there’s some hard stuff going on. Sometimes rage and grief are the valid responses.

We don’t do happy vibes only BS here, we aren’t bypassing or gaslighting or pulling any of the toxic positivity shenanigans.

That said, what about even when life is pretty good and we can’t help focusing on the triggers and the crappy moments?

That’s not actually a problem either.

Here’s why ⬇️

You are hard wired as a survival thing to notice the bad stuff more because back in our evolutionary past if you didn’t pay fast focused attention to the merest whiff of threat or danger it was game over.

☠️As the kids would say. Unalived. No cap.

Sooo, instead of getting frustrated and saying wtf to yourself thank yourself. You work perfectly.

Because life is what it is I’m dropping 2 tweaks that help the glimmers land even with our default survival factory settings:

1️⃣ When somebody compliments you say thank you with no minimising, when somebody smiles at you, let that land.

2️⃣ Get outdoors. Being out in green spaces or by running water has glimmers a plenty. PRESS PAUSE.

Btw 🐦‍⬛🎶it’s why birdsong is such a bloody gorgeous glimmer for us because back in the day to our survival focused brain birdsong meant lack of danger.

So now you know, you’re not broken and you work perfectly. We all do.

Foraging for glimmers is not the same as pretending the difficult stuff doesn’t also exist.

Cheerleading you on.
Big love,
Sarah xx
