Dear First name / Great Neighbor,
Thanks to 100 great neighbors and one matching donor, we exceeded our Aspiring Americans Campaign goal of $25,000! News like this makes a founder's heart full—to know that you care about the people living among you in Charlottesville, and that you trust us with your generous donations—I am so grateful.
World Refugee Day is June 20th. When I think about the enormity of what our refugee neighbors endure, it feels small to recognize them only one day out of the year. We can be great neighbors every day to our refugee population in Charlottesville by inviting them into our homes, offering rides to appointments, helping them study for citizenship exams, and playing with their children. There are many ways to get involved but our Great Neighbor Guide program continues to be the best way to befriend and support newcomer families.
Our staff has been working hard all year, and the work doesn't stop in summertime! We coordinate camp transportation, grocery deliveries, English tutoring and special activities for neighbors. However, regular staff meetings will pause to give our team a needed break. Volunteer Coffees will continue the last Wednesday of each month at The Wool Factory at 10am!
Keep up with us on social media and through our monthly newsletter and we will be back with regular programming in September!
Thanks for being a great neighbor!
