Should you talk about multiple things in your emails?
Or should you just stick to one?
This is a question I get asked all the time…
And like most things with copy - the real answer is: it depends.
On what?
Well - have you ever heard of the ‘Rule of One’?
It’s something we use in copy to make our words more engaging, more specific, more impactful.
And it basically means that you just focus on one thing.
One reader.
One topic.
One idea.
And so, this week’s Email Tip — is using the Rule of One.
If you look at my last email — the one idea was sentence formatting.
I could’ve talked about images, or boxes, or CTAs…
But that would have made the email confusing.
The lesson?
Keep your emails simple, and they’ll be more powerful.
Unless…
(Because I said the answer was ‘it depends’, remember?)
Unless it’s a formatted newsletter.
If you send the same format once a month or once a week with the exact same sections, and your audience knows what to expect —
Then, you can talk about more than one thing.
But only then.
Hope this is helpful! 🫶

So if the email looks a little different — that’s why!
