One of my favorite ways to keep blog content fresh and actually fun is by incorporating holidays and national days into my content.
I mean it only makes sense!!! Celebration is indeed one of my core values. 🎉
But even if it’s not one of yours, this method WORKS and it’s not just because it’s cute.
You’ve probably seen someone tie their content to “National Donut Day” or “World Kindness Day” before, but you might not have realized there was likely some strategy behind their choice to promote that.
Why? Holidays and national days give your audience an easy entry point into what you’re talking about.
And when you pair that entry point with a deeper message or offer? That’s blog gold. ✨
Even better, it makes your content feel relevant.
When you reference something timely, even something as small as National Chocolate Day, it signals that you’re paying attention.
You’re not just talking at your audience from a scheduled queue of evergreen content.
You’re showing up with them, in the moment.
Now, when it comes to incorporating holidays and national days into your blog content, it’s important that it actually makes sense! You want it to feel intentional and be aligned with your brand and your message.
People don’t like randomness, but they DO like relatability!
To help you start thinking about how you can create blog content around some upcoming holidays or national days, here’s how I would go about it based on various industries:
📣 For Marketing Professionals, Social Media Managers, or Content Creators
- July 15 – National Give Something Away Day: write a blog post about the power of free value in your marketing strategy
- August 9 – National Book Lovers Day: share your favorite books on marketing, mindset, or entrepreneurship and how they’ve shaped your approach. (I did this a few years ago on social media and I connected it to this blog post!)
🍽️ For Restaurants, Bakeries, or Food-Based Businesses
- July 7 – World Chocolate Day: feature your best-selling chocolate dessert in a social post or blog about the behind-the-scenes process of how it’s made and why your team loves it
- August 31 – National Eat Outside Day: write a blog about your best outdoor seating tips or how your menu pairs perfectly with patio weather
✈️ For Travel Businesses, Airbnb Hosts, or Hospitality Brands
- July 24 – National Cousins Day: share ideas for family-friendly getaways or feature a “Cousins Trip” itinerary using your location as the base
- August 15 – National Relaxation Day: blog about how your space, service, or destination supports true rest. Highlight amenities or guest perks that help people unwind.
See? Strategic content doesn’t have to feel stiff.
Blogs aren’t boring when you give yourself permission to play with the format, the hook, and the inspiration.
This is truly one of my FAVORITE things to do as a blog strategist, so I thought it’d be fun if we played a little game – a game where you walk away with a FREE blog content idea tailored to your business.
➡️ All you’ve gotta do is hit reply to this email and tell me the industry you’re in and a current offer that you’re promoting (with the link to your sales/services page if possible).
I’ll send back a blog topic idea based on an upcoming national day – something timely, creative, and totally custom to you.
The only catch? You’ve gotta pinky promise to send me the finished blog post when it’s live so I can see it in action (and cheer you on like the blog nerd I am).
