Love moves mountains of fear.
I know this to be true—not just because it's a lovely saying, but because one moment in my life revealed how love could reach across time, space, and doubt… and connect two souls who never met in the physical world.
This is the story of what happened the day John Lennon died—and how I heard him speak.
🕊️ The Day It Happened
It was December 8, 1980.
My children were walking out the door, and I was about to go with them. I reached to turn off the radio when I heard the devastating news: John Lennon had just been shot and killed.
I told the children to wait in the car with their father. Then I lay down on the brown carpet in the living room and closed my eyes.
I imagined I could see John. Imagining all that followed I continued to embrace the moments of connecting.
Suddenly, an unexpected image came:
He was struggling to put on his jeans.
In my mind, I said, "You don't need them."
He paused, then nodded, saying, "Oh, right." He showed me the bullet coming into him.
Then came something that surprised me.
He said, "Please tell Yoko to gather everyone for prayer so I can go on my next journey."
I answered, "I don't know Yoko."
He responded, "Yes, you can talk to her."
I explained, "But I have nothing in common with you or her."
Then came the words I'll never forget:
"We have a lot in common."
As this "imaginary" conversation ended, I sent love, light, and prayers to John and his family for their next journey.
But something inside me had shifted.
🎶 A Song That Healed Others
Throughout the day, memories of using John's music at work came tumbling back. I had brought the John/Plastic Ono Band album to the psychiatric unit where I worked.
As head nurse, I was allowed to use gentle, unorthodox tools to help patients heal. One day, I played the song "Mother" from the album. It's a raw, aching release of pain—John's cry for a mother who loved him.
I shared it with the staff, many of whom had never heard it before. When asked what it meant, I explained how it aligned with Primal Therapy—something John and I had both experienced. It was about creating an environment in which you can release the trauma and the pain associated with it.
Art Janov's book Primal Scream led me to a therapist who trained with him. John had gone directly to Art. That one song, shared in a safe space, gave the staff a new lens and sparked epiphanies for all of us.
📰 No News, Just Intuition
Because of my work with law enforcement, I avoided the news—I preferred to go into cases "cold," so I wouldn't be influenced.
So, I didn't know much about John Lennon's life at the time.
But over the next few days, I began reading. I discovered he loved making bread. So did I—I was grinding grain and baking bread for my family.
More and more little details emerged, and I realized:
We had more in common than I ever imagined.
🎥 An Unexpected Invitation
Just two days later, on December 10, my friend Roy called. He was in a studio editing a movie. He taught directing and scriptwriting, producing documentaries and the movie The Substitute starring Tom Berenger.
He casually asked, "Anything new in the psychic world for you?"
"Well…" I told him the whole story of my "imaginary" conversation with John.
Roy responded calmly,
"Yoko is in the next studio down the hall. I can bring her here for you."
I froze.
No thank you was my reply.
I'm sure she has plenty of messages from others.
Who was I to pass on a message from John Lennon?
🏡 One More Door
On Friday the 12th, Edith Jurka, MD, a close friend, called, and I told her the story too. I explained how Roy had known Yoko.
"Isn't that odd?" I said.
She replied, "I have Yoko's phone number. If you want it, I can give it to you."
It turns out that Yoko and John had an appointment to see her house in Croton-on-Hudson on December 9th.
Again, I declined.
I felt sure she had the support she needed.
And I believe I was right. On December 14, many gathered in Central Park to pray with Yoko.
That sacred space was renamed Strawberry Fields.
🌟 Reflections & Takeaways
Looking back, I can see how fear got in the way of allowing love to move freely.
I dismissed my experience as "silly," even though my heart knew it wasn't.
Even when the Universe offered two different doors, I turned away.
But that day, something changed:
The veil lifted.
And I knew—I had touched a soul across the great divide.
🌈 Benefits for You, Dear Reader
You don't need to know someone personally to send them love and light.
Fear often disguises itself as humility—your voice, love, and intuition matter.
Soul-to-soul connections transcend time, fame, and physical form.
Sharing your story may help someone else unlock a truth they've kept hidden.
Your "imagination" might be your soul hearing the truth.
The invisible world often knocks more than once—are you listening?
❓ Let's Talk Soul-to-Soul
Have you ever felt a message come through from someone who passed?
What would you do if a soul you didn't know contacted you?
Do you believe our souls recognize each other before our minds do?
Have you ever dismissed something meaningful because of fear or self-doubt?
How would you respond if the invisible world invited you to be of service?
💫 Closing Words
Ultimately, I'm grateful for what I received—even if I didn't act on it.
Because love still moved something inside me.
And maybe that's all it ever needs to do: move one heart at a time.
Has love ever moved you in a way you can't explain?
I'd love to hear your story.
With love and mystery,
Nancy
