Coventry celebrates Armed Forces Day 2025

The annual Armed Forces Day is being celebrated in Coventry on Saturday 28 June.

 

All are invited to the Service of Thanksgiving in Holy Trinity Church at 10.30am which is then followed by a parade leading into Broadgate where the city says thank you to those who serve and their families, veterans and cadets.

 

Following the church service the parade will be led by the 13th Coventry Scout Band and commences from the side of Holy Trinity Church at 11.30am, goes into Cuckoo Lane, Pepper Lane, High Street and then into Broadgate where there will be a civic salute from the presentation stage.

 

Broadgate will also play host to a number of organisations showcasing their support and raising awareness of their services in support of the city’s armed forces.

 

People are invited to come along and show the armed forces the city’s support and pay tribute to all the brave service personnel and their families.

Coventry Pupils to Perform Musical Reimagining of Lady Godiva Story

 

Hundreds of schoolchildren from across Coventry will take centre stage on Friday 27 June 2025, performing a new musical adaptation of Lady Godiva’s Birthday Suit by local author and creative Aaron Ashmore.

 

Taking place from 11am in Broadgate, Coventry city centre, beside the iconic Lady Godiva statue, the performance will form part of Coventry Arts Week 2025. An estimated 750 pupils from schools across the city will come together to share their musical take on the legendary story of Lady Godiva through song, movement and storytelling.

 

The project has brought together key local and national partners including Coventry Music Service, CCEP, and the Royal Ballet and Royal Opera, supporting the children to develop their performance skills and bring the musical to life with professional guidance.

 

The musical builds on Ashmore’s children’s book of the same name, blending local heritage with a fresh creative approach aimed at younger audiences.
