Hi friends,

Although everyone around me knows that a chauffeur is on my wishlist, I have been enjoying the drastically shorter (45 minutes shorter) drive to work in the past three weeks since school ended, as I am the one who drives kids to school.

Usually, our routine is alternating between listening to radio, songs, Trivia for Kids Podcast, Circle Round podcast, doing UCMAS mental math training (once a week), or reviewing a quiz they have on the same day. For the second half of my morning drive, when I drop them off to go to work, I listen to an audiobook on Audible or podcast episodes I've saved on my Spotify.

But lately, I have started learning in a new way. I stopped using my headset as usual to use the Live Transcribe app on my Samsung device.

This is how you do it:
The Setup: Use your phone's split-screen feature to run two apps simultaneously:
  • Your podcast app (Spotify, Anghami, etc.)
  • Samsung's Live Transcribe app
The Process:
  1. Start playing your podcast episode
  2. Samsung's Live Transcribe automatically creates a real-time transcript as you listen
  3. When the episode ends, copy the transcript (it stays saved for 3 days)
  4. Paste it into ChatGPT or Claude with a prompt like: "Please summarize this podcast and give me actionable takeaways."
The Result: You get both the listening experience AND a written summary with practical advice you can easily reference, share, or act on later.
This works exceptionally well for educational podcasts, interviews, or any content where you want to remember and apply specific insights.

Here is an example I did recently for a podcast episode I listened to about sleep.

I hope you like this new learning tip.

Pro tip: I've been taking it a step further lately and listening to multiple episodes from the same author about a specific book or topic, and having AI provide a holistic view of the author's knowledge and perspective.

Snapshot from my week: Waleed and abu Waleed together!
My brother and his wife had their firstborn child yesterday and named him after dad's name.

Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark ⚡️a newsletter listing 3 sparks that I thought were worth starting your week with.

1. 🧠 The Power of Pause. A great leadership post and reminder of the importance of reflection. The crystal balls analogy was brilliant.

2.  ⏰ Hindsight Voice VS. Real Time Voice reminded me of the recent post about pausing by Seth Godin and this one I wrote. (Bonus: Make sure to check Gabe's playlist which he updates monthly, it lifted my spirits last week).

3.  ⏸️ Quote of the week: The three benefits of pausing in sales meetings according to Brian Tracy:
"When the prospect finishes speaking, pause and wait for three to five seconds before you answer. Even if the prospect has asked you a question to which you know the answer, you must still discipline yourself to pause for a few moments.

There are three benefits to pausing. First, when you pause, you convey to the prospect that you are carefully considering what he just said. This tells him that you value him and his words. What he has said is too important for you to respond too quickly. As a result, you raise his self-esteem and self-respect. You make him feel better about himself, and by extension, better about you.

The second benefit of pausing is that it allows you to hear the prospect at a deeper level of mind. It’s almost as though words soak into your mind as water soaks into the soil. When you allow silence after the prospect’s words, you actually understand what he or she really meant, much more than you would if you replied immediately.

The third benefit of pausing before replying is that you avoid the risk of interrupting the prospect if he is just reorganizing his thoughts and preparing to begin speaking again. Allow Silence in the Conversation. Salespeople must become comfortable with silence. This is critical to selling success."
