Hi First name / friend,
The last Friday of June is here, and like clockwork, I find myself opening up my accounting software to check in on how the year’s shaping up. Tracking earnings, comparing projections, and seeing if I’m still on course to hit my financial goals for the year. Freelancing can be such a rollercoaster that it’s hard to tell whether I should feel relaxed or slightly panicked! On the topic of freelancing, a few of you reached out last week asking how I find clients. I ended up replying to some of you with tips directly, and it got me thinking — I’d love for this newsletter to be as useful as possible for you. It’s still early days, but I’m toying with the idea of adding a weekly Q&A where you send in a question or topic, and I’ll share my take on it in the next issue. Could be a fun way to make this more interactive. What do you think? With that said, let’s dive into this week’s design finds. Catch you next Friday x |

Yep, AI is Coming For The Fonts AI is changing how we design, and now it's starting to reshape the world of fonts. Monotype's new Re:Vision report looks at a future where typography becomes responsive and intelligent. Imagine type that adjusts based on your mood, reading speed, or even the time of day. It sounds futuristic, but it's already in development. Not everyone is on board, though. Designers are questioning whether AI-generated fonts can match the creativity and character of human-made ones. There are also legal and ethical concerns around originality and copyright. Is this a breakthrough for design, or just another tech buzzword? Read the full article to find out what's really happening behind the scenes. |

20 Inspiring Graphic Designers of 2025 Creative Boom’s list of 20 graphic designers inspiring us most in 2025 highlights a diverse and exciting group making waves across the design world. The lineup includes talents like Temi Coker, known for his vibrant, culturally rich work; Natasha Jen, whose thoughtful design thinking pushes creative boundaries; Hugh Miller, blending typography and illustration in fresh ways; and Rachel Gogel, whose bold editorial style stands out. And yes, I was horrified, completely shocked, to discover I wasn’t on the list. Totally joking, of course! This is a seriously impressive group of designers shaping the future of graphic design, and their work is definitely worth following if you want to stay inspired in 2025 and beyond. |

Is It Centred? Avark’s "Designer’s Eye" is a fun online game that tests your attention to detail by asking if dots are perfectly centered within various shapes. Like most designers, I’m always trying to guess whether things are truly centered, so this challenge really speaks to me. Get all ten right to win. Created by Avark, a Web3 design agency, the game is both entertaining and a clever reminder of the precision needed in design work. There’s even a festive Christmas version to enjoy during the holidays, even if it is June. |

A Branding Video That Actually Stands Out I love creative branding videos that break away from the usual clichés we’ve all seen a million times (guilty as charged). This Reel from Skala for Prime Facility really caught my eye because it feels so bold and confident. The clean, professional look fits the company perfectly and shows off what great branding can do for a business.
What I really love about this video is how fast, snappy, and creative it is, yet it always keeps the logo mark front and center. It’s a perfect balance of energy and focus that keeps you hooked without losing sight of the brand. Just a heads-up though, there are some quick flashing images in there, so if you’re sensitive to that, take care! |
