Hello! Today's email is part 2 to help us prep for the Social Media Summer Break! If you missed yesterday's email, you can find it here in the SMSB Library. Going forward I will link the library at the bottom of every email so if you missed anything, you can find it there. I'm very excited about this email because this is the fun part :) Here's what to expect from me during the break, a few downloads, and ideas on what you can do during this time! This email will also be on the longer side so feel free to use the headers to navigate and there's a short summary at the end. |

HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ME DURING THE BREAK… |
|
I'll be sending out very short emails Mon-Fri for a little inspiration. It may be a quote, idea, action, song, image, etc. These emails will also include the daily prompts for the 21 Every Days Art Project (more on that below). I know some of us may be trying to limit our email / screen time so each one will only take a few minutes to read. It's just a little something to help us start our day and keep us interested and motivated throughout the break. I'll also be hosting a few things and here are 2 PDFs for you! |
|
Use this calendar to plan and write down all things SMSB related! It captures the first and last day of this 3 week break and has some extra lines at the bottom for notes. |
|
In the next section I'll be sharing things to do during this break. Once you're done brainstorming how you'd like to spend your time, pick the top 12 items and write them down on this list. As you do them, check them off (such a satisfying feeling :)). I recommend printing this on cardstock and encourage you to doodle, letter, and have fun with filling out the sections! This PDF has 2 pages: one with a larger list template and the second page has 2 if you prefer a smaller size or are doing this break with someone. Be sure to select which page you want to print out (instead of print all). These PDFs are for personal use only. If you'd like to use them for other purposes, please email me. Thank you! |

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO DURING THIS BREAK? |
|
Have fun brainstorming ideas! I suggest writing this down so you can keep adding to the list. Jot down both the big things and the small, anything and everything you are interested in! Once you have a good list going, pick your top 12 and add them to the list print out if you'd like. Here are some things to try: - 21 Every Days Art Project Visually document 21 days of your life with me! I'm hosting this project and will provide daily prompts as well as a supply list, tutorial, examples, and variations to try. You don't have to have any art experience and the project can be adapted for all ages. I will be sending a separate email on this tomorrow.
- Postcard Swap Send and receive postcards from a small group (4-5 people) of fellow snail mail enthusiasts! Sign ups will be open on July 6th-- more details will be emailed to you then.
- Get a disposable camera. Take a picture each day of something you notice. At the end of the break, get them developed! Consider picking an overall theme or theme for each week to take the guesswork out of what to take a pic of. (Ex: a pic of the sky / your companion animal / a flower everyday, take a pic during your daily walk, or of what you eat, etc.)
- Go on a daily walk outside if you can. Take your dog, friend, partner, a family member, kiddos with you.
- Make the first 15 minutes device free
- Take your phone but only to take photos
- Take your phone but turn it off and take photos with your disposable camera instead :)
- Go on an awe walk
- Have an analog hour each day.
- Start something. What are some projects or tasks you have been wanting to do but haven't felt you had the time for? Now is your chance to begin!
- Finish something. Return to an abandoned project.
- Try a new recipe, go to a grocery store that is new to you to shop for ingredients.
- Read books and magazines, go to the library.
- Connect with your loved ones Plan a get together, make one-on-one coffee/tea/boba dates, have a picnic, get out and spend time with the people you love!
- Sign up for a workshop or class Try and learn something new.
- Check out free summer events your city, local libraries, and bookstores offer.
- Play! Go swing at the park, bike riding or roller blading, work on a puzzle, play a new game, throw a frisbee.
- Spend time in nature Bird watch or look for wildlife, look up at the sky and trees, dip your toes in the ocean or a river, appreciate the shade on a sunny day, see what flowers are blooming.
- Get organized! Take this time to declutter, clean out a closet or drawer. Not the most fun but feels so good when it's done! You can also use this time to plan ahead: for the holidays, an upcoming event, for your small business, for social media posts when you return so you use your time more intentionally!
- Be a tourist in your own city / surrounding area.
- Go on a road trip or day trip. Here's a list of weird, wild, and rad roadside attractions!
- Enjoy a concert Check if there are any free shows at a nearby park or beach.
- Visit a museums and monuments Find one that aligns with your interests or choose something you'd normally never go to--maybe it will surprise you!
- Give back Find ways to volunteer or contribute to a cause that's important to you.
