“These were grown from seed in my garden,” says Adele Perrott, The Wilding’s Head Gardener.

Pass through the garden gates to The Wilding and the first thing you’ll see are the banks of repurposed containers. Spilling out of them an abundance of veg: lettuce, kale, spring onions, globe artichokes, marrow, sweet peas and spinach.

They’re just one of a dozen allotments. Some of these invite you to think. Others invite you to eat. And yes, the growers want you to dig in. It’s organic.

Folklore: the old stories we pass between us like hand-me-down jumpers. It’s how we remember who we were, and where we come from. Looking back, how will we be remembered in 2025?

The Wilding is about creating fresh folklore. Stories about the paths we choose right now. We are allowed to choose. We’re allowed to do it our own way, Witness Boss Morris creating pop-up joy in front of Shangri-La’s main stage. An explosion of colour and defiance dancing two-step to garage bangers is the definition of joy as an act of resistance.

The physical roots of the plants, vegetables and grasses here were first rooted somewhere else. And after the party, they’ll go home.

The Wilding is now rooted in Shangri-La for the foreseeable future. The physical roots of The Wilding are extending, anchoring the plants and grounding us. They are connected and they are strong.

Kae Tempest’s growth continues to be extraordinary. Last night, on Shangri-La’s main stage, their growth was on display in all its visceral glory. Bold. Uncompromising. Tender. From grassroots poet to incendiary rapper, via books and theatre.

Trailblazers are bold enough to grow in front of your very eyes.

“Imagine a 1970s’ living room – but wild,” says SoundsRight collaborator Becky Young, “This is about honouring and repaying nature for all that she gives us. She has a loud voice but you have to listen.”

NATURE was the OG artist. The inspiration for the first drawings, paintings and poems – and of course, music.

Step inside Sonic Bloom – a collaboration between SoundsRight, Kaye Dunnings and Edible Bus Stop – a hideaway where you can pull up a pallet seat, don a pair of headphones and listen to NATURE. Isn’t it about time?
