The Solidarity scoop 📰
Hi Friend,

From progress on the new community park in Reynosa, to emergency water deliveries in Tapachula, our team worked hand-in-hand with displaced communities this month to build safe, joyful, and dignified spaces at Mexico’s borders.

Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been up to, and how you can be part of what comes next.

In Reynosa:
  • Safe water continued to flow through daily distributions, system maintenance, and ongoing water quality testing across shelters and camps.
  • At Casa Lulu, we repaired deteriorating electrical connections and sourced materials for an upcoming bathroom upgrade. Construction also began on a new concrete courtyard, home to the shelter’s kitchen and community space, to improve safety and reduce flooding.
In Tapachula:
  • We continued to distribute hygiene and sanitation supplies at all sites, with a special focus on menstrual and child hygiene kits.
  • At Belén Shelter, we provided daily drinking water after the onsite water system broke. Until repairs are complete, bottled water is distributed during meals, with jugs available for cooking and personal use. We also began repairing the kitchen sink drains to restore basic hygiene infrastructure.

While we get ready, please enjoy our custom Solidarity Engineering-themed coloring sheet! Inspired by our work at the border and already a hit with kids at Senda de Vida 2 💜

📊 Data & Advocacy
This month, we were invited to join Tapachula’s Protection Cluster, strengthening coordination with humanitarian partners to advance rights-based support for vulnerable groups, especially women, children, and LGBTQ+ migrants.

This partnership helps us pool resources, improve our response, and deepen our multidisciplinary approach to public health.

🌱 Things We’re Excited About
We’re laying the groundwork for our first Solidarity campus chapter—at McMaster University in Canada! Through events, advocacy, and fundraising, students will amplify our mission and build solidarity from the classroom to the border.
