Your Dose of Savvy Sloth Wisdom

Hi First name / Slothies!

Not another sales email for the love of all things slothy and good!

That’s what I told myself before writing this. Because today isn’t about red, white, and blue or buying things you don’t need ( even if they are on sale, put it back!).

It’s about you—and what freedom really looks like as far as I'm concerned.

Here’s the truth:

Freedom is personal.

It’s not a finish line.

It's not just something we mention in the context of politics and patriotism.

And it definitely doesn’t look the same for everyone.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how many of us look free—on paper. We’ve got financial independence, stable careers, calendars full of meaningful work and social plans. But deep down?

We’re exhausted. Disconnected. Still chasing that elusive feeling of ease.

I’ve felt this way before. And even now, practicing everything I preach here at Savvy Sloth, those feelings sometimes sneak back in.

But things started to shift when I redefined what freedom actually meant to me.

I asked myself:
“How would I spend my time if no one else were around?”
Then I followed it up with:
“What’s keeping me from doing those things?”

The answers surprised me.
It wasn’t other people that were keeping me from feeling free—it was me. The stories I’d been telling myself. The pressure I was putting on my own shoulders. Finally knowing this helped me redefine freedom and focus on my definition only.

Speaking of redefining...
I'm heading to the Cowboy Carter concert tonight and couldn’t be more excited 🐝

I’ve had that album on repeat—not just because it’s a masterpiece—but because of the message.

Beyoncé’s Act series has been a slow, intentional reclaiming. A setting-the-record-straight. A healing. And a reminder that it’s never too late to change the rules you’re living by.

So let me ask you:
What rules are you still following that no longer serve you?
What would you reclaim if you had the space?

Maybe today you’ve been making magic for your family—hosting, cooking, creating core memories.

And if that brings you joy, ease, and freedom, I love it and I’m cheering you on.

But if you felt more stressed than free while doing all those things, it might be time for you to reclaim and redefine what a free day and freedom really looks and feels like for you.

So take the pressure off.

Enjoy a firecracker popsicle.

Let your spark be seen.

Because your spark is the magic.

It’s not about what you did or didn’t get done today.

It’s about how you felt doing it.

Here’s to a holiday where your own spark doesn’t get lost in the noise.

Here’s to freedom—on your terms.

Happy 4th of July & Talk soon,
Renee 🦥
