WEEK 1 | TAKE ACTION | DAY 2
Learn
Tap into your curiosity--what do you feel drawn to and want to gain more knowledge about during this break? Whether it's learning a phrase in a different language or trying a new recipe or art technique, do it without using the internet (which is the first thing I would turn to)! Instead you could:
  • Ask someone with experience to share their knowledge / show you
  • Go to the library and check out books on the subject
  • Learn as you go--try it and see what happens / experiment on your own
  • Sign up for a workshop, class, or talk
While some of these methods can take a bit longer than picking up your phone and doing a quick search, it allows you to dive deeper and immerse yourself in the topic as well as potentially connect with others who are interested in the same thing. And once you feel comfortable, a great way to reinforce what you learned is to teach it to someone else!

21 EVERY DAYS

Capture something you learned today by thinking of images and shapes that can be used to symbolize it. You can also learn a new art technique and use what you learned in today's section. On the flip side, have you taught someone something today? Use that as inspiration.

To get us warmed up to learn something new, try this quick exercise! Grab a pen or pencil and some paper then follow the step by step drawings below to learn how to sketch a lemon (I thought it would be a nice summer-y subject :)). I'd love to see how yours came out, feel free to email me a photo!

How did Day 1 go? I spent most of mine driving then caught up with an old friend so it made it a lot easier to not want to reach for my phone--although I still could have looked at it less!

One thing I want to spend more time learning about are topics related to personal finance, specifically stocks and options (which sounds like a total snooze fest to me 😅) It's been something I've been telling myself to get a better understanding of so I'm using this break as an opportunity to do that. Day 2 for me will be more driving so I'm going to find a podcast to listen to on this topic. But I'm hoping before I get on the road or maybe in the evening, I'll get a chance to try this lemon tutorial :)

What is something you want to learn during this break and how are you thinking of approaching it?

Have a great second day of the break,
