Dear friends,
Writing a book is one thing. Editing a book? That’s a whole other journey. Imagine therapy, but instead of a couch, there's a blinking cursor—and instead of gentle questions, there's a sharp red pen reminding you that maybe, just maybe, your brilliant paragraph is actually… not.
From the very first chapter of More than Millions: Finding the Gold Within, I had the incredible fortune of working with Debra Evans—editor, story whisperer, and keeper of the literary flame. Together, we moved line by line, chapter by chapter, shaping the story and letting it unfold in its truest form. Whole sections were trimmed, sentences reworked, ideas clarified. It was like holding my story up to the light—and asking, “Is this really what I meant to say?” Most of the time, the answer was, “Almost. Let’s go deeper.”
And here’s the truth: I loved it. Every cut, every question, every nudge from Debra made the book more me. It felt like I was coming home to the heart of what I wanted to share. Editing didn’t just polish the pages—it made them sing.
P.S. We didn’t need a red pen—just Word, wit, and a willingness to go there. Working chapter by chapter with Debra helped me shape something real and resonant. She has a gift for cutting through the noise and helping the story land—like a good friend who tells you when there’s spinach in your teeth, but kindly… and with excellent taste.
