It doesn’t have to be this way, First name / friend.
When we traveled with little kids, I was a drill sergeant getting them thru the TSA line. Barking orders, grabbing backpacks…I was pretty much a nightmare but the TSA guys seemed to appreciate me.
My family, not so much.
Connor got me back though. He used to dress up as a policeman every day after school. Gun, badge, handcuffs, ticket book, uniform. It was really cute.
We were coming back from the beach, right after 9/11 ( remember how twitchy TSA agents were then?!) and Connor set off the metal detector. And all I could think about was that very real looking metal handgun he always carried.
And jail.
Turns out it was a flashlight shoved in the back of his pants. So then I added a pat down to my Pre-flight TSA With Kids Checklist.
