| | “Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.” Mary Lou Cook |
 |
| | I love this quote by Mary Lou Cook and her perspective on creativity! From visual arts to coming up with a new recipe to sewing to making up a story--take time today and throughout the break to invent, experiment, take risks, break rules, make mistakes, and have fun! A few questions to help you get you started: What creative activities do you connect with? What have you done in the past and loved? What do you feel curious about trying? What immediately came to mind? What do you feel excited about? What's a small way in which you can get started? Is there an unfinished creative project you'd like to revisit?

| | For today's section, create with no expectations in mind. Let go of having a particular outcome and focus on embracing the process and see where each mark, brush stroke, or pencil line takes you. Build and figure out the next step as you go. See what happens!    If you're not sure where to start, try this exercise: Pick a color. It can be your favorite one, what you feel drawn to today, one that reflects your mood/how you feel right now.Gather all the supplies you have in that color.Use all of them to fill in your section: scribble, color, make lines, shapes, and patterns, write. Let them layer on top of each other.
Tip: I like to start with the dry materials (crayons, colored pencils) and end with the wet ones (paint) so I don't have to wait for it to dry before moving on to the next material.   Here are 2 examples from my sketchbook. Once I choose a color, I am usually reminded of something and use that to guide my mark making. For black I was thinking of shadows and for red, flames and fire. |
 |
| | I believe we are ALL creative and have different unique ways of expressing it. We owe it to ourselves to tap into this side and explore it!   We are 3 days in! Keep at it and I'll talk to you tomorrow, |
