WEEK 1 | TAKE ACTION | DAY 4

Connect
Take time to connect with loved ones--and with yourself.

One of the things I actually love about Instagram is that it does allows us to connect with so many people all over the world! But DMs, comments, and texts can't replace in-person face-to-face connections. Hearing someone's voice, seeing their facial expressions and mannerisms, laughing together--there is something special about that and it can't be replicated via texts. (If distance makes meeting hard, try phone and/or video calls.)

It's just as important to spend time off screens with ourselves--whether it's to check in with how we're feeling at the moment, take ourselves out on a date, reflect in a journal, or just sit quietly in a place we feel connected to.

Today, try to…
  • Meet up with a loved one--or schedule to meet this weekend / upcoming week
  • Give a loved one a call
  • Spend 5, 10, or 15 minutes with yourself (or longer if you are able to)
How do you feel afterwards? How can you maintain connections and relationships outside of apps?

21 EVERY DAYS

Notice things that remind you of connecting and connection.

Collect physical items if they are available to add to your section (the paper sleeve around your cup from getting coffee with a friend, a birthday card/postage stamp/snail mail you received, a sticker a kiddo in your life stuck on you).

Think about the conversations you had and how you can translate that into a visual--how it made you feel and what colors you associate with that, snippets of text that can be added to your section, or if you met up for coffee or tea you could use those liquids to paint/stain your section with or draw a cup with what you drank in it.

Find inspiration in a person, place, or thing that you feel connected to.

I hope your day 4 is a good one! Talk to you tomorrow,
