| | The poem above is by one of my favorite writers, Mary Walker. You can find more of her work here.   Go wandering today. Somewhere outside if the weather permits. Even if it's for a short while, even if it's some place you've been before a million times. And whether it's for 5 minutes or an hour, take your time. Close your eyes and take your surroundings in--take deep breaths, hear the sounds. Look at everything around you--notice the colors, the textures, the big things and the tiny things, the evidence of life created by the beings we share this world with, plants, animals, insects. |
| | Fill your section with your findings from wandering around. Take a sketchbook with you to create rubbings or quick sketches / notes to expand on or cut out and use when you get backWhat was your favorite part / what made a lasting impression?Reference a photo you took whether that's painting it as is or focusing on a specific detailGather things you found interesting--a seashell, a rock, a branch--to use as a tool for mark makingWhat colors did you notice? Try to replicate it using the supplies you have (it's OK if it's not a perfect match!)How did you feel? Express the mood or vibe in your section.

| | We have made it through the first week! Can you believe it's been 7 days already? I'm excited to share some of our experiences tomorrow--thank you to those who have taken a moment to do this and if you want to as well, feel free to reply to this email (I love reading them and even though it may take a little bit of time, I try my best to respond to each one :))   Taking this break and trying to change our habits is hard and can be scary and uncomfortable. No matter where you are in this journey, try not be be too hard on yourself!    Wishing you moments of awe and wonder in your wanderings and throughout the weekend. Talk to you tomorrow, |
