We’re in full summer mode here in Newport, and thankfully the weather is finally cooperating. I’ve been spending some time working on the Fall Style System, but I’m also trying to stay in the moment and soak up all the fun that summer brings—beach days, tennis, and visits from my boys and their friends.
This Friday, Son #3 heads to Chicago to start what he jokingly calls “the next 40 years of work” on Monday. 😅 It’s going to be a big transition, but he’s seen his brothers survive this stage and actually really love it, so I know he’ll find his footing too. The early wake-up is going to be the biggest challenge…I'm glad I won't be involved. ⏰ 😉
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling a little sad about my “baby” officially flying the nest, and the end of extended summer and winter breaks with him. But I’m doing my best not to dwell on what’s changing and instead focus on the positives of what’s ahead (for him and all of us).
The fact that the three guys will be living within a 15-minute walk of each other in Chicago makes it easier, and you can bet we're already planning visits. At the end of the day, as long as they’re (relatively) happy and—most importantly—healthy, I’m happy.
This weekend, we had a group of his high school and college friends here. Most had never been to Newport, and let’s just say they had a great time (shocking, I know).
This week will be full of packing and organizing for him, and lots of laundry and cleaning for me.
Happy Sunday, ladies!
