Earlier this month, Milwaukee experienced a flash flood that impacted so many in our community. Our home was dry; however, countless family members, friends, and neighbors are still struggling to navigate the destruction. Seeing the devastation firsthand has reminded me how quickly the things we rely on can be disrupted.
As someone who helps people create calm, organized homes, it’s easy for people to think in terms of “stuff.” But moments like this remind us that it’s not just stuff. Our peace of mind, our routines, our day-to-day life—and yes, even our finances—can be affected when our homes are impacted.
This work I do isn’t just about organizing things. It’s about creating a sense of stability, flow, and calm that protects us emotionally and practically when life doesn’t go as planned. It’s about giving yourself the mental and physical space to navigate challenges, recover more quickly, and maintain your sense of control.
To anyone affected by the flood: my heart is with you.
And to all of us, it’s a reminder to care for our homes, our spaces, and our peace of mind—not because the stuff matters most, but because the life we live within those walls does.
