In short, subscribe to
Drowning in Words, my new Substack, which will be delivered right to your inbox whenever I feel the need to overshare about all things writing.
I have a blast on Facebook scribbling procrastinatory ramblings and spilling my guts on topics such as chasing impossible deadlines, wrangling dysfunctional characters, facing the monsters in my head, and the gazillion other challenges of doing this wild sport for a living.
But I always get frustrated that so few people are on Facebook lately, so I've started
my own Substack today, something I've been threatening for a long time. All you have to do is throw in your email address, and I'll be able to drop in when I have something worth sharing.
I can also do live chats, host releases, and who knows what else, all of which you'll be notified of via email. I look forward to testing things out; it's a phenomenal platform chock-full of wonderful writers.
No, you don't have to pay to subscribe. That option's only there if you feel compelled to buy me a lobster roll, or if you're interested in subscriber-only benefits that will be mentioned when you sign up, including raffles for free books and the ability to comment and join the community.
I hope you'll sign up. I won't post all the time, only when I have something to say. And don't worry, I'll still be here, sending this same newsletter. I just wanted an outlet to focus more on the writing craft, a topic I can't get enough of, even when I'm going mad. There's something so absolutely liberating about putting on the page the struggles of being a working novelist. This is a look under the hood, and it's not always pretty, but I suspect ever-entertaining.
Okay, better get back to it. I've broken through the 100k mark on my work-in-progress. Let's see if I can land this plane!
