If you’re using Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and still wondering where all your leads go… you’re not alone.

Enter Funnel Exploration— one of the most powerful (and underused) features in GA4.

Here’s what small business owners need to know:

Where to Find It:
Head to Explore in GA4’s left-hand menu, then click Funnel Exploration. It’s one of GA4’s custom report tools that shows how users move through your site step-by-step!

Why It Matters:
Imagine your website is a house. Funnel Exploration is like watching a security cam playback — you see where visitors enter, what rooms they walk through, and where they get stuck or leave.

It tells you:
  • What’s working in your user journey
  • Where people are dropping off
  • What’s keeping them from converting

How to Use It Effectively:
  • Map key paths (like Homepage → Services → Contact Page)
  • Segment by traffic source, device, or new vs. returning visitors
  • Test changes based on drop-off points— adjust headlines, tweak CTAs, or speed up slow-loading pages

You don’t need to be a data scientist— you just need to know where to look and what to tweak. Funnel Exploration gives you a smarter way to optimize your website without guessing.

P.S. This isn’t about metrics for metrics’ sake. It’s about understanding how your digital house feels to your visitors — and fixing the creaky floorboards before Q4 traffic hits!

Speaking of understanding pathways — we had an appraiser over at Ivingo last week as we start mapping out our very first renovation since moving in.

As I walked them through each room in our old Victorian, I kept hearing myself say, “...and this one? We don’t really use it yet.” It hit me: just like with a website, there’s no point in having beautiful rooms (or pages) if they aren’t functional, lived-in, or serving a purpose.

Five years ago, we moved here from a much smaller space and never quite caught up in terms of furnishing or finishing things. But now? We’re ready to give each room its purpose, refinish the floors, pick a new exterior color, and finally make this house feel like the version we know it can be.

And yes, I’ve been on Pinterest every night this month — no regrets. 😅
