| | | WEEK 2 | NOTICE WHAT'S AROUND US | DAY 12 |
 |
| |   There are things that are a part of our daily lives that we consider ordinary, humdrum, dull. It might be something so ingrained into our routines that we don't even really notice it anymore or something that's lost its shine and newness. As we move through this Thursday, let's search for the special in the every day, appreciate the staples we have in our lives, remember those excited feelings we once had. I think if we take a few moments to look closer, we can find a little magic in the mundane. |

| | The softness of an old rug under our feet. The way the tube of toothpaste is crumpled and bent. A once brand new pot now marked and stained from many meals cooked. Remembering what it felt like the first time you got behind the wheel or took the train. A new t-shirt now faded and worn.   Take something ordinary, something you use frequently, something you don't pay much attention to anymore and shine a spotlight on it as your subject for today's section. To get inspired, here are 3 artists who are thinking outside the box and turning ordinary things into something extraordinary: And for some actionable ideas, here are 3 things to try: Drip coffee, tea, or juice onto your section (be very careful not to spill / tape the section off / cover the surrounding areas) and let it dry. Then draw what you see in those shapes. Here's some examples.Arrange a few everyday objects in front of you then sketch / paint it.Take something you might see/use every day (a plastic bread clip, sponge, bottle cap or soda tab) and use it to make an imprint. Use that as the starting mark for an abstract piece or make more to create a pattern. You can also trace the item instead then color in or keep tracing and overlapping to make a pattern.
