Tune in to your sense of touch today-- focus on all the different textures you come across: the fabrics you are wearing, how lotions and balms feel, the smoothness and warmth of your coffee mug, the soft fur / reptilian skin / or smooth shell of your animal companions.
Try to look for interesting textures at the grocery store, a home goods shop, or an art supply store--run your hands and fingertips over all the different items, notice the weight, the temperature.
How can you create with “touch” in mind? Here are some ideas you could try:
- Use your fingers and hands as your tool for today! Use them to tear pages out of magazines and then into smaller pieces and strip for a collage or as your brush to apply paint.
- Let your hands be your starting point-- trace part of your had or add a thumb or some fingerprints then add on to it depending on how those shapes and lines inspire you.
- Bring texture into your section: sketch a texture you connect with or add texture using thick paint or adding another ingredient like baking soda to it to make it chunkier / sand like.
