WEEK 3 | CELEBRATE OUR SENSES | DAY 19
Taste
Sweet, bitter, salty, sour, astringent, pungent, umami--explore your sense of taste today. This could look like experimenting with a new recipe (pull out an old cookbook you've had sitting around) or ingredient, trying something you've never had before, finding comfort in a tried and true favorite, or sharing the experience of taste--making a dish to give or passing on a recipe, going to a restaurant with a loved one or cooking/baking side by side. In addition to the flavors, notice the textures: smooth and creamy, fizzy, crunchy, chewy, soft.

I want to recognize that all of our relationships with food is different and we all have our own journeys with it. Please do what feels comfortable and best for you <3

A recipe to try / share: I remember getting an Amish Friendship Bread starter from a neighbor when I was a kid and thought that it was so fun and tasted so good! When writing this prompt this memory came to mind and I found this post detailing how to create this easy and versatile sweet sourdough starter. For my plant-based / lactose intolerant friends, we can use non-dairy milk in this recipe :) I am so excited to make this bread and pass some of the starter along! I wonder if it'll be as good as I remember it to be--I hope so!

21 EVERY DAYS

Find inspiration in your kitchen today:
  • Use a food item as your brush (dried pastas, dried beans, make potato stamps) or paint (berries, coffee, tea, juices, flour + water + food coloring)
  • Experiment with watercolors and salt
  • Recreate a favorite food memory
  • Jot down a favorite recipe
  • Illustrate your favorite dish, the feelings it evokes, or capture the texture of it

We have 2 days left! It's never too late to jump back in if you've taken a break from this.
Talk to you tomorrow,
