✨I'M STILL HERE✨

A recent image from my trip to Japan with OM-System

Hello First name / Friend,

Yep! I'm still here - feeling slightly sheepish about my failure to send out a newsletter since August 😱 I knew it had been a while, but when I checked and saw AUGUST, I was amazed! Fortunately, though, my silence is due only to being busy with lots going on in the background. I have a few interesting pots on the stove that I hope to be able to update you on in the near future!

The last month has been focused on an incredible trip. My husband and I travelled to Japan with OM-System and Lisa Michele Burns as part of my prize from the Creativity. It's In Our Nature. competition. I just got a couple of weeks ago, and I am so excited about the images I created on the trip. Between packing, travelling, and recovering, it's been my focus for the last month and I am just coming up for air at this point! If you're interested in finding out more about the places we visited, the images I made, and my thoughts on the OM-System OM-3 camera, you can find a link to my latest Notebook post below. Leave me a comment - I'd love to hear from you!

A new book is out and I've just purchased it for myself. Steve Kemp's An Exaltation of Parks tells the story of John D. Rockefeller Jr.'s lifelong dedication to conservation, digging into his own pockets and toiling as a volunteer to achieve his goals for converting private land into public use. For those who treasure our national parks, this is an important and timely book.

Check out Sarah Marino's latest blog post A Few Wintery Days in Yosemite
to see some of her latest work and read about her thoughts on photographing iconic landscapes. After that, head to the full Winter in Yosemite 2025 gallery for more incredible imagery. Nobody captures the color and details of the landscape quite like Sarah does…

My husband and I just purchased an amazing bird identification device that we are obsessed with. It's called Birdweather PUC, and was recommended to us by our bird-loving friends. In essence, it is a listening device that uses AI to identify birdsong, giving users a peek into the birdlife in the vicinity. We have it placed in the back of our home, in a stand of mature woodland with many very old white oak trees. We knew our birdlife was rich, but our new Birdweather PUC is telling us exactly how rich. In just 3 days, it has identified 31 different species! This little device is better than television, and we can take it with us on hikes, too. Highly recommended as a gift for the bird-lovers in your life!

She's done it again! Chrissy Donadi has put together a comprehensive list of gifts for nature photographers. Great place to find your next gift, whether it's for someone you love or for yourself. Thanks Chrissy!
